Another year brings more award nominations, and this time, we are honored to celebrate the launch of one of the most eagerly awaited hardware products in crypto history—Ledger Stax. Designed by Tony Fadell, the father of the iPod, Ledger Stax was announced in December 2022. It promised a seamless, mobile-friendly user experience that redefines the world of hardware wallets, addressing real user friction and generating significant anticipation. Like any groundbreaking innovation, our journey was not without its challenges. The development of the world's first e-ink curved secure touchscreen encountered over a year of delays due to various technical hurdles, which turned the community's excitement into a playful “wen Stax” meme on social media. The real question was how to relaunch a product that had already been introduced. We realized that storytelling was essential to showcase the hard work and technical brilliance behind it. So instead of creating a traditional campaign, we decided to produce a documentary that tells the story of our journey, highlighting the teamwork of engineers, designers, and manufacturers over two years. To share this story, we crafted engaging content for social media and organized screenings in various locations to connect with our audience directly. We also developed a range of creative assets and educational materials to spark interest and understanding around Ledger Stax, making sure its relaunch felt like a true celebration of innovation and collaboration. I am incredibly proud of the team for earning two Lovie nominations for the Stax launch and the "Road to Stax" documentary. Watch here: https://lnkd.in/dNX8tqy8 Your support means the world to us. There's a new protocol from Ledger that gives you more control over your data. Read the White Paper below. Last week Ledger announced Ledger Key Ring Protocol, which allows users to use Ledger devices for encrypted key management. This has many potential uses, but for me the most exciting is a new way of looking at the user’s ownership and control over their data. https://lnkd.in/ecNwYxWG You can read the White Paper here. We welcome your comments: https://lnkd.in/e2ugw7d5 Why? I started “living on the Internet” in college circa 1990. The way you gained access to a server was with your username and login. When the World Wide Web emerged in the early to mid-90s, Websites wanted to save your information, preferences, and application state so they asked you for a username and password too. Eventually your email address became your username and most Websites started to save all your activity using your email address as the identifier. “Web 2.0” emerged in the 2000s, and login started consolidating behind your Facebook, Google, or Apple accounts. The question now is, “who owns you?” If you really want to feel the degree to which you are owned by one of these companies, try moving from an iPhone to Android or vice versa. The “lock in” is painful and intentional. We willingly hand over data about our behavior and preferences on and offline to companies (Apple, Google, ByteDance, Uber, and every company in partnership with that airport wi-fi you just logged into) who use that data to bring us all kinds of conveniences (funnier videos, driving directions, restaurant recommendations, “targeted” advertisements). The downsides of this have been well documented in films such as The Great Hack and books such as Surveillance Capitalism. Collectively, we’ve gone from unaware to “aware and trying not to think about it.” I’ve always dreamed of a world where I own my data and I can decide who gets exactly which data with my explicit permission. For a few years now I have been saying: - Web 1.0 was username/password - Web 2.0 was login with Facebook, Google, or Apple - Web 3.0 will be secure login with your private key Ledger Key Ring Protocol is a powerful tool in this turning toward user privacy and control over their own data. Authentication will be replaced by blockchains and passkey technology. Once authenticated you have proven who you are, and with Ledger Key Ring Protocol you own your data and share what you want, when you want. You are in control. 🔴 Ledger unveils "Key Ring Protocol" In an exclusive interview with Grégory Raymond, Ledger's CTO Charles Guillemet explains how this protocol enhances privacy by empowering users to encrypt and control their data. "Imagine a decentralized version of Google Drive, where you share only encryption keys, not your data" 👇

📣 The digital landscape is currently undergoing a major wave of decentralization, which also brings a significant challenge: secure and confidential data sharing. Blockchain technologies ensure data integrity, non-repudiation, and authenticity, but they fall short when it comes to confidentiality. Control must be distributed and users must have guaranteed ownership. As such, the need for secure and decentralized systems is more pressing than ever; new protocols and technologies must emerge to meet these needs. This is precisely where our new Ledger technology, the Ledger Key Ring Protocol, comes into play, as it enables both security and confidentiality for encrypted data sharing. In short, Ledger Key Ring Protocol enables multiple applications or instances of the same application to access shared information, which they can use to encrypt and decrypt data. Importantly, the Ledger Key Ring Protocol protocol uses hardware wallets as a central point for key management to implement end-to-end encryption. Users can now rely on their Ledger device to securely manage who has access to their data, ensuring true data sovereignty. My call to action for developers: use Ledger Key Ring Protocol and build your own decentralized and private app, including potential functionalities such as end-to-end encrypted messaging, decentralized file storage, synchronized data, and more. Note that Ledger Key Ring Protocol can only be used as a “privacy” tool. It is not meant to manage crypto and authentication keys.
