FEBUS FOGrid solution provides detection and precise localization of any event occurring along the cables of offshore wind turbine farms 🌬 🌊: ✅ static cables: thermal, mechanical and electrical events ✅ and dynamic cables: fatigue, strain and electrical events As dynamic cable parts are moving, they are more exposed to failures and are harder to monitor. They require dedicated monitoring, for mechanical and fatigue surveillance. 💧 Monitoring of hydropower plant operations with #fiberoptics and #DAS technology using the FEBUS A1. 💧 👉 Every start, stop and load change in hydropower plants generates flow and pressure transients in the waterway (headrace tunnel and penstock). 👉 As water is an elastic medium, the shutdown of powerhouse valves leads to a fast-travelling water hammer in the penstock, that is then reduced and controlled with a surge tank. 👉 However, the closure of the valves will create a pressure transient with a long time period in the headrace tunnel called mass oscillations. This mass oscillation oscillate back and forth until the energy is dissipated by friction. In case of emergency shutdown of the valves, our technology can monitor these pressure variations. We successfully used our well monitoring solution based on Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing (#DFOS) to monitor frac operations. 👉 The combination of #LowFrequencyDAS (LF-DAS) and #microseismicity #DAS data is a key point to optimize frac operations and to identify cross well strain during frac hits. 👉 LF-DAS allows to quantify strain and temperature changes due to fracture interference for each frac stage. Here, the complexity of fracture interactions is monitored using our FEBUS A1 DAS which is optimized for frac operations. The system enables to see with high resolution upward and downward fracture growth, but also fracture opening and closure. 👉 In addition to LF-DAS, microseismicity provides insights to understand frac geometry for vertical and horizontal (“pancakes”) fractures, as well as potential slanted fractures, by applying inversion models.
