🚀 Exciting news: The FutureFoodS partnership has pre-announced the first call! This call will fund 🌍 transnational #researchandinnovation projects focusing on 3 key topics that address high-priority challenges outlined in the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). Topic 1. The way towards 👌 sustainable and resilient food systems Topic 2. New 🥗 foods Topic 3. 💪 Empowering sustainable food choices Check the pre-announcement paper online for more information about the topics, eligibility criteria, and the timeline. It was great to attend “Understanding system shocks in European food systems”, a workshop organized by Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI) in Brussels, yesterday 19th September. Enlightening presentations by Chris Hegadorn (Food Alert), Bettina Baruth (risks and vulnerabilities in EU food supply chain) and Martin Kováč (water cycles and agricultural resilience), followed by challenging and dynamic co-creation activities. The discussion brought to light six policy blocks/areas to be prioritised: Definition & Accounting of Food Systems; Food Democracy; Policy and Politics Coherence; Water Cycles as game changer; Knowledge and Exchanges; Global Governance. Looking forward to continuing discussing it and more during the next Ghent Group Annual Meeting (5 and 6 November, Brussels). 🌍🍽️ Well-Sated: SYSTEMIC Project Wraps Up After 4 Years of Impactful Research 🍽️🌍 🤝The partners and funders of #SYSTEMIC met for their final meeting earlier in July. The project was funded under the Knowledge Hub Food and Nutrition Security by the three JPIs: JPI Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life (JPI HDHL), Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI), and JPI Healthy and Productive Seas and Oceans (JPI Oceans). 🌱🔬 SYSTEMIC has been at the forefront of understanding the complex nexus between food, nutrition, and climate change. The project has not only generated crucial climate models and datasets but has also explored innovative solutions like microalgae as a sustainable protein source. As we wrap up, the impact of #SYSTEMIC is already clear, with numerous publications and ongoing discussions about the future of food and nutrition security.
