The European Space Agency (ESA) is Europe’s gateway to space. Its mission is to shape the development of Europe’s space capability and ensure that investment in space continues to deliver benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world. ESA is an international organisation with 22 Member States. By coordinating the financial and intellectual resources of its members, it can undertake programmes and activities far beyond the scope of any single European country. ESA's 22 Member States are Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Slovenia, Slovakia, Latvia and Lithuania are Associate Members. Canada takes part in some projects under a cooperation agreement. Five other EU states have Cooperation Agreements with ESA: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Malta.

📸 The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope has examined the spiral galaxy, NGC 4951. This galaxy is a perfect example to showcase how matter and energy travel in nearby galaxies, giving us insight into how galaxies evolve over the course of their life. 🛰 https://lnkd.in/ej4Kfdyb

#MondayQuotivation💡 🤔 What accomplishment from your time at ESA so far are you most proud of❓ 🗨 “During my time as a Research Fellow, two of my colleagues and I completed lab projects that demonstrated running different AI algorithms on various space grade and commercial hardware. This was to show the feasibility and the limitations of existing space hardware running AI. Additionally, we were able to show that even processors with a moderate performance that would today be considered outdated are able to run many interesting AI models. This allowed us to use a lot of space grade hardware and cutting-edge commercial hardware. I collaborate with colleagues from other teams and departments daily. This is the great advantage of working in the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality. We provide expert support to other projects, so we get to meet people from every other directorate. It is also a great learning experience because completing a project is a big team effort and we all have an opportunity to learn from experts from other fields.” 💬 – Maris Tali, On-Board Data Processing Engineer #ESA #SpaceExploration #Innovation #Inspiration #QuoteOfTheDay #MotivationalMonday #SuccessQuotes

🌑 We've been exploring how a future Moon base might be built from materials on the lunar surface. Inspired by LEGO, we used dust from a meteorite to 3D-print 'space bricks' to test these ideas. Our 'space bricks' are on display in selected #LEGO stores from 20 June to 20 September, helping to inspire the next generation of space engineers. Full story 👉 https://lnkd.in/evw-YKEw

#PickyourPic 📸 Isolated from the outside world with radio- and sound-absorbing internal walls, the Hertz chamber simulates the boundless conditions of space. Its hybrid nature makes it unique: Hertz can assess radio signals from antennas either on a local ‘near-field’ basis or as if the signal has crossed thousands of kilometres of space, allowing it to serve all kinds of satellites and antenna systems. 👏 https://lnkd.in/g8Ur6ReS ❤️ https://lnkd.in/gAea5Aff 👍 https://lnkd.in/gia8YGNj 💡 https://lnkd.in/gydrFPtX 🛰 ESA/Anneke Le Floc'h/G.
