Diving further into our history, we highlight a disruptive innovation in vision correction: the creation of the Varilux lens. In 1951, Bernard Maitenaz, a young engineer who joined the Société des Lunetiers (SL), developed and patented a groundbreaking concept - the "continuously variable focus lens". This revolutionary Varilux progressive lens corrected presbyopia in a more natural way than the bifocals invented by Benjamin Franklin in the 18th century. As we conclude the successful journey of our 2022 #OperationsTalentProgram graduates, we reflect on their remarkable growth and embodiment of EssilorLuxottica's values. Their great achievements and cutting-edge ideas set a strong foundation for future innovation within our organization. We were happy to celebrate their commitment and growth together with the team of Leonardo EssilorLuxottica, our innovative learning ecosystem. Now we are looking forward to the new edition of the project starting from the recruitment process. We have already engaged with almost 3,000 applicants, conducting final assessments at our Operations Hubs in France, Italy, Thailand, USA and Brazil. This year, candidates had the chance to embark on this process by demonstrating their perspective and values through visual storytelling by using the innovative the LEGO Group Serious Play methodology. The continuous cycle of development - from the accomplishments of the former OTP edition to the promise of the next one - underscores our commitment to nurturing exceptional talent. As we continue to explore our heritage, we celebrate a revolutionary moment in optical history: the introduction of the Orma 1000 lens. After years of dedicated research to create lighter and more durable lenses than traditional mineral glass, LOR, a Lissac subsidiary specializing in plastic lenses, made a groundbreaking advancement. René Grandperret developed the Orma 1000 lens using a new material, CR39, marking the debut of light and unbreakable organic lenses.
