💡On October 21st, we celebrated the DAY OF PHOTONICS with the students from different faculties at the Yerevan State University. We made a presentation on Quantum Cryptography, showed how half-wave plates and polarizing beamsplitters work, as well as the differences between single photon sources and regular light sources Also, we discussed the meaning of randomness in quantum physics and the reasons we can never copy the state of a photon. Using our Quantum Distribution Demonstration Kit from Thorlabs, which we purchased thanks to the SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics Outreach Grant, we demonstrated the principles of quantum distribution Everyone participated in the experiment, learned how to change the polarization states of light and have a secure communication through quantum distribution. It helped to understand the practical applications of quantum cryptography We are looking forward to sharing the #BB84 protocol with even more people in the future.
