Meet Nick, Head of Computational Biology at Cure51. 🧬 What do you do at Cure51? I lead the Computational Biology team, where we develop bioinformatics workflows to process complex omics data. Our focus is on building scalable, robust tools that help identify targets for various cancer types. 🧬 What’s your day-to-day like? We’re close to finalizing an end-to-end workflow that will automate our data processing pipeline. We're also integrating AI to manage and analyze large datasets, ensuring our approaches are both innovative and biologically meaningful. 🧬 How do you see AI impacting your work? AI will play a significant role, especially as we generate large datasets with numerous variables. While it’s tempting to plug data into existing models, it’s crucial to pair AI with strong biological questions. This ensures that the results we get are not just accurate but also biologically relevant and useful 🧬 Any surprises since joining Cure51? I was impressed by the strength and sophistication of our tech team. For a young company, we have a well-developed system for handling clinical data, which has been crucial for our work in computational biology. 🧬 What do you do outside of work? I’ve been playing guitar for over 20 years.
