#OceanEnergy ⚡️#UseCases       As part of the collaboration between Ocean Energy Europe and the #CopernicusMarine Service to promote the uptake of our #OpenData in the ocean energy sector, MESPAC is providing accurate and timely metocean information for offshore locations.     They do this by combining satellite data with in situ measurements and using advanced AI algorithms. This is key for offshore wind and marine energy developers, R&D centres, and marine spatial planning agencies.        It helps them manage and operate their assets more efficiently, improving the performance of marine energy devices, and reducing their cost.       This is essential to achieve the objectives of the EU's 🇪🇺 Offshore Renewable Energy Strategy.       Read more at 👇   https://lnkd.in/e-J75xwY 

At the #DOF2024 the pre-operational European Digital Twin of the Ocean 🌊 was unveiled.     It represents a milestone for the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Water,” which aims to protect and restore the health of our oceans and waters through research and innovation by 2️⃣ 0️⃣ 3️⃣ 0️⃣.   But what is the #EUDTO?     Currently, it is a pre-operational public infrastructure platform that combines and integrates data and services from the European Marine Observation and Data Network (@EMODnet) and the #CopernicusMarine Service into a single digital framework 💻.   It exemplifies the 🇪🇺’s commitment to developing innovative scientific tools to revolutionise marine science and its approach to the ocean's multi-faceted challenges.     By enabling complex “what-if” scenario analysis, the EU DTO is expected to provide unprecedented capabilities for innovative modelling and science-based decision-making.     This game-changing platform will support the EU Green Deal and Digital Strategy, as well as the goals and outcomes of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030).   Read more on the EU DTO at 👇  https://lnkd.in/eGeCTYsT

📢 Mercator Ocean International (MOi) developed a new high-resolution forecasting system to monitor Sargassum algae drift. 🏖️🌿Sargassum masses have been causing major socio-economic, environmental and health problems in the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea and the tropical Atlantic. MOi scientists have developed a new forecasting system with a higher spatial resolution, and the first tests showed promising results. This new system was developed as part of MOi's regional and global efforts to contribute to effective mitigation and adaptation strategies for Sargassum algae drift. As part of the National Collaboration Programme, we have published 2⃣ new use cases on how #CopernicusMarine supports safety at sea🌊:     1⃣ Search & Rescue operations in Spanish waters: Our service provides data to SASEMAR (Spanish Maritime Safety and Rescue Agency) in order to monitor and better predict ocean and coastal currents, an essential variable for rescue operations🚨    2⃣ Environmental management in the Belgian North Sea region: Our service provides a modelling/assessment tool (OSERIT) which tracks hazardous incidents such as oil spills and other human-related matters.    Learn more at 👇  https://lnkd.in/eZyjuJdX
