⛔ De nombreuses études aujourd’hui confirment le très faible taux de transférabilité du modèle animal vers l'humain. En effet, entre 80 et 99% des médicaments testés et approuvés chez l’animal échouent lors des essais cliniques chez l’humain, car ils se révèlent toxiques ou non efficaces. 🔔 L’argument selon lequel les méthodes alternatives à l'expérimentation animale ne permettent pas de répondre à l’ensemble des questions scientifiques est avancé depuis de (trop) nombreuses années. Il semble sous-estimer les progrès des sciences et les avancées technologiques qui tendent vers une plus grande pertinence pour l'homme, et qui sont donc scientifiquement et éthiquement plus intéressantes. 🐁 ❌ 🙅♂️ Si l’on prends l’argument de la nécessité de l’organisme entier pour justifier l’expérimentation animale, le modèle animal permet certes d’observer des effets / conséquences d’une molécule ou d’un médicament sur la santé générale d’un organisme vivant ou le fonctionnement d’un organe, mais il permet difficilement de comprendre les mécanismes associés aux observations physio-pathologiques. Ainsi, l’organisme entier animal ne permet non seulement pas de répondre à toutes les questions scientifiques mais lorsqu’il y répond, il se retrouve confronté aux problèmes de transférabilité inter-espèce. 🔬 Les nouvelles approches non animales, les #NAMs, permettent de mieux comprendre les mécanismes moléculaires et cellulaires d’action dans un contexte basé sur des données humaines et entamer ainsi une approche scientifique et systémique des organismes dans leur ensemble.
