NEW REPORT on CCUS in the cement sector in India! #Cement production is responsible for 7-8% of current global #CO2 emissions, and approximately 5.8% of CO2 emissions in #India, the world’s second largest cement producer. #CCUS is a key lever to decarbonise cement manufacture globally, including in India. Significant potential exists to capture, transport and store CO2 emissions from the Indian cement industry, supporting India’s committed GHG emissions reduction targets. We invite you to have a look at a new report drafted in collaboration by Global CCS Institute GCCA – Global Cement and Concrete Association and Clean Energy Ministerial CCUS Initiative, looking into how cement sector emission points could be linked to #CO2 #storage opportunities in India. Find the report here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ge3zws8i The next report in the collaboration will look into the needed #policy, #regulatory and #finance frameworks. We are also looking to expand the analysis to further #emerging #economies - so watch this space! LAST CHANCE TO REGISTER! Attend the webinar #CCUS in the Indian Cement Industry: A Review of CO2 Hubs and Storage Facilities.🇮🇳 Tomorrow, Tuesday 25th June 12:00 PM-13:00 PM (UK time). https://ow.ly/zXeQ50Si8WK The #webinar will cover the Indian Cement Industry outcome 1 report release. India’s economic growth has been substantial over the last two decades, much of which can be attributed to rapid industrialisation. India’s cement industry is the second largest globally and has played an important role in the country’s economic growth. Tackling rising CO2 emissions in the country – 5.8% of which can be attributed to cement production – will be key, and CCUS can play a central role. This is the first report in a series for India - developed collaboratively between the Global CCS Institute, Clean Energy Ministerial CCUS Initiative, and Global Cement and Concrete Association, and with support from the Global CCS Foundation, assessing: - Potential CCUS hub ecosystems in #India and identifies potential flagship projects. - CO2 emission sources with storage opportunities in proximity. - Transport and storage costs through a techno-economic analysis, and more.
