📡International Rice Research Institute and partners held workshops in Viet Nam to introduce the Rice Production Monitoring and Reporting System (RiceMoRe) to nearly 100 agriculture officers. The system is now operational in multiple provinces, including the Mekong River Delta and Red River Delta. The Farm Monitoring and Reporting Tool (FarMoRe) also received positive feedback for its ability to collect detailed farming practices and perform greenhouse gas calculations. This initiative supports Vietnam’s agricultural digital transformation, with further training sessions planned to ensure comprehensive adoption. 🧑🌾In semi-arid Africa, smallholder farmers face challenging conditions, with over 50% of rainwater being lost to runoff and evaporation. Despite efforts such as water harvesting and improved seeds, crop yields remain low, leading to increased food insecurity. In Marange, Zimbabwe, the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT is demonstrating how integrating water capture and soil health techniques can significantly improve productivity. By using runoff channels, infiltration pits, and organic manures, farms in the area have been able to improve soil health and water retention. This success story is inspiring neighboring farmers to adopt similar climate-smart practices. More: https://lnkd.in/dM2iTAtk #ClimateResilience
