A r t w o r k The Rozelle Parklands in Sydney, Australia, has been recently completed and is now accessible to the public. The Artwork designed by Studio Chris Fox envelops three large ventilation towers, part of the Westconnex Rozelle Interchange. These 25–30 meter tall and 10–14 meter in diameter cylindrical concrete towers are wrapped in a dynamic steel frame that supports zinc panels, green wall modules, and a twisting steel structure. The twisting form connects the towers and introduces a sense of movement, blending #Art with #Nature. The steel framework, pinned to the concrete towers and supported by the exhaust vent building below, also integrates a staircase and service platform for maintenance. We contributed with our expertise as structural engineers, aiming to help Chris Fox successfully merge Art, Engineering, and biophilic design, turning an industrial site into a visually engaging public space.

A w a r d 🏆 We are excited to announce that ‘Rathaus Hainburg’ has been honoured for the second time following the ‘German Timber Construction Award’ in 2024! This year, the Town Hall was awarded with one of three ‘holzbaupreis prohessen 2024’ in the category ‘new building’. The #award was presented in #kassel yesterday as part of the 6th Congress for Timber Construction, organised by ‘pro holzbau hessen’. The prize honours buildings, projects and concepts that demonstrate the appropriate use of #timber in terms of overall concept, construction, design and energy efficiency. The building was designed by #STUDIOBORNHEIM. We were responsible for the structural engineering, the building physics, and the fire engineering. C o n s t r u c t i o n  P r o g r e s s Exciting progress on the 'Moringa' building site! We're proud to be working alongside WTM Engineers GmbH on this groundbreaking development, led by Moringa GmbH (Landmarken AG). As Germany’s first Cradle-to-Cradle residential high-rise, this eco-friendly project in #HafenCity, #Hamburg, is setting new benchmarks for sustainable urban living. The 'Moringa' complex, designed by kadawittfeldarchitektur, will feature 190 residential units, including subsidised housing, alongside co-working and co-living spaces. The buildings are arranged around a lush green courtyard, creating more green space—both horizontally and vertically—than is built over. The façade will act as a 'green lung', enhancing air quality, reducing heat, and contributing to biodiversity in the area. Following the Cradle-to-Cradle philosophy, the project utilises recyclable and healthy materials, designed for easy dismantling and reuse, showcasing the future of circular construction. T r o p h y The 2023 BATISOBRE trophy for sustainable construction has been awarded to the Paris ICF Habitat La Sablière project in the "Cycle UP" category (circular economy and reuse). This project represents a significant urban renewal effort. ICF Habitat La Sablière replaced a dilapidated 1930s building with a new development consisting of 75 homes across two 6-storey buildings (R 6). The new structures feature a mass-coloured concrete base and an ashlar façade that meets modern standards. A third building, connected to the others, is planned as a 2-storey (R 2) structure with wooden façades and pre-treated wooden cladding, offering a unique residential experience in Paris. The project emphasises green spaces, including a high-quality courtyard at the centre of the three buildings. We provide structural engineering expertise for ICF Habitat in collaboration with jbmn architectes and Lafayette Architectes Urbanistes. R e m i n d e r We are thrilled to be part of the upcoming Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) session, which kicks off today in #London and continues this weekend with a second leg in #Paris. Simon Ruppert and Alexander Berger from B G Frankfurt will represent us at the conference in the UK, while B G Paris will lead a guided tour during the Paris site visits on 27 September. The first stop will be Tour Aurore in La Défense, where a morning introduction will be followed by a visit to La Félicité (formerly Morland Mixité Capitale). S y m p o s i u m Crafting Circularity will occur in Antwerp, #Belgium, on 27 September. The symposium explores how hands-on making can elevate circularity in #architecture #education. As part of an Erasmus project, the event will be organised around three thematic blocks, each highlighting key findings and outcomes from various project phases. The goal is to foster meaningful discussions on educational change and student engagement, with insights from esteemed educators and experts driving the conversation. This multi-layered reflection will contribute to a deeper understanding of innovative teaching approaches. The results will be incorporated into a publication set for release in spring 2025. Our colleagues Kenny Verbeeck from B G Brussels and Adam Orlinski from B G Paris will participate in the event, delivering a lecture showcasing crucial aspects of B G projects and #workflow.

A w a r d e d We proudly announce that Docomomo US has awarded the restoration of the former U.S. Embassy in Oslo, designed by the legendary Eero Saarinen, the 2024 Modernism in America Design Excellence Award! Congratulations to all the teams that worked on this outstanding Norwegian building retrofit project, developed in collaboration with AtelierOslo and Lundhagem. R e m i n d e r Today, our colleague Philipp Eisenbach will attend the opening of the London Design Festival, which will take place from 14 to 22 September. At the Parade Ground of the Chelsea College of Arts, a special configuration named ‘Vert’ will be ceremoniously unveiled. The structure is an evolution of the first VERD° modules, two free-standing prototypes installed in Frankfurt one year ago. E v e n t We have been invited to participate in the international conference 'Pop-up Structures for Culture' organised by the University Tor Vergata. The event will take place at MAXXI Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo in Rome, #Italy, on 18 September. The conference will explore the growing use of temporary and pop-up structures in cultural institutions like museums, libraries, and festivals. These flexible and reusable designs are increasingly used to engage larger audiences and adapt to both physical and digital spaces. The event will dive into the sustainability of these structures, promoting environmentally friendly practices and contributing to a greener future. Our Parisian colleague Adam Orlinski will discuss the structural design challenges and engineering innovations behind projects like The Land, White Noise, and ProtoCampo. His presentation will focus on addressing these challenges through material optimisation, energy efficiency, CO2 compensation, and the use of recycled materials, all of which aim to reduce environmental impact.
