Construction work of the turbine hall at Hinkley Point C - Unit 1 – is progressing nicely. The 50 metre tall turbine hall will house the world’s largest Arabelle steam turbine, plus generators, pumps, heat exchangers and more. The Arabelle turbine and generator are as long as a Boeing 747 and capable of producing 1,770 MW each. Together they will produce enough electricity for 6 million homes. We can’t wait to see the Arabelle installed. #TEAMHPC

This GIGATOP TA1900 generator has left our Belfort factory destined for Hinkley Point C, the UK’s new generation nuclear power plant, where it will help deliver low-carbon electricity for some 6 million households. After years of design and build, the generator underwent rigorous running tests and with 2000 MVA is the most powerful generator ever manufactured at our Belfort factory. We can’t wait to see it being installed in the Hinkley Point C turbine hall. #TeamArabelleSolutions

At the end of May, the EDF Group has acquired GE Vernova's steam nuclear activities covering conventional island equipment for nuclear power plants. This acquisition enables the Group to acquire key technologies and skills for the nuclear industry and European energy security. These activities, employing around 3,300 people, will be managed by Arabelle Solutions a wholly-owned subsidiary of EDF. Arabelle Solutions will supply equipment for new nuclear power plants and will also maintain and upgrade equipment in existing nuclear power plants (excluding servicing activities in the Americas). For example, Arabelle Solutions steam turbines will be used in particular in the EPR, EPR1200, EPR2 (European Pressurized Reactor) and SMR (Small Modular Reactor) reactor series. This new subsidiary will strengthen the industrial expertise of the EDF Group in the nuclear value chain alongside Framatome.   #Nuclear #EPR Copyright: Arabelle Solutions
