Airbus’s #Racer high-speed #helicopter demonstrator, developed in the frame of the European Research Clean Sky 2 project, has reached its fast cruise speed target of 220 kts. On 21 June, less than two months after its first flight, the Racer demonstrator exceeded its level speed objective of 407 km/h (220 kts) by reaching 420 km/h (227 kts) in its initial configuration. In just seven flights and about nine hours of flight testing, almost all of the flight envelope has been opened. Read the press release: fly.airbus.com/3ybHAXg #AirbusHelicopters #Innovation

July 4 was an emotional moment for the Airbus Helicopters personnel in Donauwörth as they bid farewell to the first Major Component Assembly (MCA), the main fuselage, of the first militarised H160. After being assembled and tested in Germany, this fuselage was sent to Marignane, France, where it will be used in the assembly of the first prototype of the H160M. Airbus Helicopters will build three H160M prototypes that will be used to develop the military version of the latest helicopter in the Airbus range. Assembly will take place in the following months, with the first flight of this prototype scheduled for 2025. Learn more about it in our article. #AirbusHelicopters #MakingMissionsPossible #H160M

In the UK, the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) network is funded almost entirely by 21 local charities, with the role of the service being high profile and passionately supported in each operator’s region. Maintaining the operation (which flies an average 126 missions each day) requires around £200 million of funding -the vast majority of which is provided by charitable donations. Airbus has delivered the first H160 in the U.S. to PHI Aviation, marking the beginning of H160 operations in the country. This is the first of the initial four H160 helicopters that PHI will operate for offshore transportation in the Gulf of Mexico. Prior to beginning commercial operations, the helicopter will be used in a route-proving programme designed to demonstrate the H160’s capabilities in the demanding offshore environment. This will help facilitate a smooth entry into service, ensuring the operator and final customer are familiar with the aircraft’s advanced technology and safety features. Sometimes a life can be saved in a matter of minutes. In such cases, you need to be able to intervene as quickly as possible. In France, 63 helicopters fly for the SAMU (Urgent Medical Aid Service), including 21 of the H135 family. These ‘ambulance’ helicopters carry out two types of missions: - ‘primary’ flights, in which case the aim is to land as close as possible to the patient and evacuate them as quickly as possible to hospital, - ‘secondary’ flights, which involve transferring patients between two hospitals. #AirbusHelicopters #MakingMissionsPossible #H135 #SavingLives #AirAmbulance
