These councils address climate risks to water, sanitation, and hygiene by training officials and personnel, as well as linking stakeholders. 🚰  𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗥. 𝗙𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗼 – 𝗦𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 Mayor Karissa Fetalvero has prioritized WASH in her municipality since taking office, leading the iWASH council and collaborating with health workers and local teams to embed hygiene practices in her community. Her participation in the council allowed her to take part in reflections on possible challenges by ensuring direct contact through meetings involving barangay health workers, the Barangay Peace Action Team, and the Barangay Nutrition Scholars. 🩺 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗻 – 𝗧𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗮-𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 Coleen, a Rural Sanitary Inspector, works on three critical aspects of her community’s wellbeing: sanitary issues, nutrition. The collaborative efforts of the iWASH council put in place are essential for her to be able to collect up to date data and foster partnerships with barangay officials, to drive health advocacy and sanitation improvements. Ensuring they have the tools to implement necessary changes. 👩⚕️ 𝗗𝗿. Dr.T.Almoite focuses on education and community engagement: a key factor for her is effective communication on the effects of poor sanitation and hygiene through group discussions with the community. Supporting Access to Quality Water in Derna: A Lifeline for Flood-Stricken Communities 💧   Between September 10th and 11th, 2023, Hurricane Daniel devastated Libya’s Northeast, particularly impacting Derna, where 19% of damages occurred.   Acted, the only NGO on the ground before the floods, responded swiftly, with support from WeWard. Together, we’ve been working to ensure access to safe and sufficient water for the affected communities.   Our actions on the ground: ✅ In October and November, our teams collected water samples from five available wells in Derna. These samples, transported over 100km to labs in Benghazi and Al Bayda, revealed varying degrees of contamination, prompting urgent measures. ✅ Acted’s team was also able to set up a water quality control lab in Derna. Equiped with high quality material this lab will be used to test the water quality locally, economizing on long distance travels to other laboratories in the region and ensuring quality control of local water sources.   We thank WeWard for supporting us in restoring access to good quality water and in sufficient amounts to 120,000 civilians in Derna. 💪 #WeWard #Acted #3ZERO #ZeroExclusion #ZeroCarbon #ZeroPoverty

🔍 Did you know? Fewer than half of all impact investments are allocated towards developing countries, leaving a $4 trillion SDG financing gap! But stories like Mirgul's show the potential impact of more targeted investments. Mirgul, a visionary entrepreneur in Kyrgyzstan, received a loan from Acted’s microfinance affiliate (OXUS Group) to expand her clothing and design business. The results? A tenfold increase in revenue, three new hires—all of whom have disabilities—and a thriving business. 💪 But that’s not all—Mirgul is also a powerhouse para athlete! She’s set to represent Kyrgyzstan in powerlifting at the Paris Paralympics after winning silver at the 2023 Para Powerlifting Cup in Thailand. 🏋️♀️🇰🇬 Together with its partners, both local and international, Acted is expanding its investment focus on 3 key areas: 1) Microfinance 2) Project finance in developing countries 3) Investments in European impact initiatives—all driving toward a fairer, 3ZERO World. 🌍 Let’s bridge the gap and empower more success stories like Mirgul’s. Together, we can make a real difference! #ImpactInvesting #SDGs #SocialGood #3ZEROWorld #Paris2024 OXUS Kyrgyzstan Denis Khomyakov

With funding from USAID and in partnership with Concern Worldwide and PACIDA, Acted has been working to sustainably improve the livelihoods of agro-pastoral communities impacted by climate shocks in Samburu County in the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs) of Northern Kenya. Through the holistic project, Acted and its partners distributed cash transfers to over 3,800 households, sensitized 18,300 individuals on hygiene and sanitation, supported rehabilitation of 33 malfunctioning boreholes, vaccinated over 193,000 livestock, and provided emergency livestock feeds to 800 households. With this assistance, communities in Samburu County have become more resilient to climate shocks, increasing their food security, as well as their access to safe drinking water. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eAXiHHuq

🌍 On the occasion of #WorldHumanitarianDay, Acted would like to honor its 7804 staff and all humanitarian workers around the world who operate relentlessly to support communities in vulnerable environments. This year, on World Humanitarian Day, we appeal to all States, parties to armed conflict, and the wider international community to: 👉End attacks on civilians and take active steps to protect them – and the critical civilian infrastructure they rely on. 👉Protect all aid workers, including local and national actors, and their premises and assets and facilitate their work, as called for in UN Security Council Resolution 2730 adopted this May. 👉Hold perpetrators to account. Those who commit violations of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) cannot go unpunished. #ActForHumanity
