Department of Malware Exterminators

Destroy all the malware as you can while being randomly assigned different powers.

Controls: Spacebar (Activate Ability/ Power)

Pink: Tap (Short Jump)/ Hold (Higher Jump)

Green: Hold (Activate Shield)

Blue: Hold (Activate Speed)

Red: Hold (Activate Flames)

Yellow: Press (Shoot Bullets)

My Thoughts:

So this is something I made pretty quick for the "1 Button Jam (2024)".

Basically a variation on an endless runner, but with the player having powers randomly activating.

Tried to get creative with only a single input, I still feel it needs something more gameplay-wise.


DevLog Notes:

General:

- [DONE] Research the "patch notes" outline/ template

- [DONE] Update the landing page for the game

- [DONE] Add more info in the desc. about the game (Backstory, Character, My Thoughts, etc.)

Bug Fixes:

- [DONE] Removed the DEBUG inputs

- Fix the position of the player running around the planet

- [DONE] Fix the code with the "yellow" power not activating

- [DONE] Fix the angle of the "red" power angle (Should be angled by the position of the player)

- [DONE] Have the player appear in front of the "red" power

- [DONE] Fix bug with the amount of shields spawning when the "green power" is active

- [DONE] Fix the animations not matching when "blue" power is active (When dashing)

New Content:

- Added designs for each different enemy type

- Updated the shield/ energy barrier design for the "green" power

- Added functionality to the HUD bar (Defeated enemies fill it up a little bit, sphere expands when full, destroying all enemies it touches)

- Added SFX (Jump, Enemy Spawn, Enemy Destroy, Enemy Attack, Player Speed, Player Flame, Player Shield, Player Blast)

- Added Music

Possible Future Content:

- Improve the thumbnail art

- Remove the C3 logo, replace with a Splash screen

- Improve the design of the planet/ sphere 

- Add different enemy types (Long Range Attackers/ Melee/ Teleporters)

- Have different spawn locations/ areas for these different enemy types

- Improve the gameplay cycle (Add a gameover scenario, make the power change more apparent to the player, give enemies more behaviors, tweak enemy spawning speed/ etc.)

- Improve the player animations power effects (Fire Effect, Yellow Power Bullet, Glowing After Image, etc.)
