The latest #Wartsila190 feature showcases the engine behind our efficient logistics 🌎 Wärtsilä’s Central Distribution Centre (CDC) in Kampen, The Netherlands, hosts one of the largest spare part inventories in the industry. 🚛 The facility is an integral part of our global logistics services as it ships more than 140,000 deliveries annually to customers in over 180 countries. The spare parts distribution operates 24/7 through a highly automated and innovative warehouse. ♻️ The CDC covers the entire material flow from order confirmation until the point of delivery at the customer’s doorstep. Great news!🏆 We have received the OLADE 2024 Energy Excellence Award in the Technology for Decarbonisation category. The award was announced last week at the IX Energy Week in Asunción, Paraguay. 🌟 The Energía del Pacífico plant in El Salvador, which generates 30% of the country's electrical capacity, exemplifies our engine solutions. It has reduced dependence on imported fuel oil, created jobs, and decreased approximately 600,000 tons of CO₂ annually. Selected from over 70 applications, this award highlights our commitment to the energy transition. #HotOffThePress – Wärtsilä’s NextDF feature is now available for the Wärtsilä 25DF dual-fuel engine. Whilst operating on LNG, the NextDF feature reduces methane emissions to less than 2% of fuel use across all load points, achieving as low as 1.1% in a wide load range. After the Wärtsilä 31DF engine, this is the second Wärtsilä dual-fuel engine to be made available with NextDF technology. LNG is considered an important transition marine fuel; therefore, enhancing dual fuel technology to further reduce methane emissions will have a major impact on its long-term viability. Wärtsilä’s work around reducing methane slip and GHG emissions is part of its effort to continuously improve efficiency and reduce emissions of its products. “The Wärtsilä 25DF engine has already set an industry benchmark for low methane slip, down to as low as 1.4% at certain load points. By making available our NextDF technology for the Wärtsilä 25DF engine enables operators to go even further in reducing methane emissions. This increases overcompliance with EU regulations whilst simultaneously helping them to futureproof their vessels in the longer term." - Stefan Nysjö, Vice President of Power Supply, Wärtsilä Marine. The NextDF feature also lowers NOx emissions further than on the standard Wärtsilä 25DF engine, which already has low emission levels below IMO Tier III, and improves engine efficiency further by up to 0.5 percentage points.
