🌟✨ Did you know? ✨🌟 Have you ever heard of SSbD (Safe and Sustainable by Design)? It’s a framework that prioritizes safety and sustainability in technology development, guiding the innovation process for chemicals and materials. It aims to steer the #innovation process towards the #green and #sustainable industrial transition. In #ProjectARMS, we develop an SSbD energy storage applications framework, which helps us identify early potential issues and guide the development of #supercapacitors through timely feedback. 💡🔋 Key aspects of the SSbD framework include: 🔍 Safety assessments: using risk assessment methods to screen for potential safety issues related to raw materials and fabrication processes. 🌎 Environmental indicators: incorporating Life Cycle Thinking to evaluate resource depletion and global warming impacts, ensuring our approach is #EcoFriendly. 💰 Economic considerations: assessing resource and fabrication costs while accounting for monetized environmental impacts to ensure economic viability. In the second half of the project, the SSbD framework will contribute to a comprehensive Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LSA). This will evaluate specific #supercapacitor applications, such as coin cells for consumer products, and compare them with traditional technologies like batteries. 📊🔋 #ProjectARMS will adhere to ISO standards and PEF methodology guidelines while evaluating socio-economic impacts through Environmental Net Present Value. This approach considers both economic and environmental safety impacts, providing a holistic view of our project's benefits.
