Sunstorm mission exceeded its initial two-year lifespan and set a new benchmark for solar X-ray observations! 👏 After three years in orbit, Sunstorm CubeSat re-entered Earth's atmosphere on September 4, 2024, exceeding its original mission goals. 🙌 Launched by Kuva Space and Isaware under the European Space Agency - ESA’s Program, Sunstorm’s X-ray Flux Monitor (XFM-CS) collected the most extensive data on solar X-ray flares to date. This data is crucial for improving space weather forecasts, protecting critical infrastructure like satellites and power grids. Meet our interns: Susanna Kukkavuori Aino Schulz, Linh Tran, and Jayaditya Shah! Their days were filled with hands-on work, diving deep into the trenches of data labeling, a crucial task that ensures the reliability of our AI-powered solutions. But it wasn’t just about data. They also became acquainted with Kuva Space’s vision, mission and culture. Celebrating a pivotal milestone in Finnish space history! 🇫🇮 The Aalto-1 satellite, our nation’s first, has now completed its mission after over seven years in space. 🛰️ This groundbreaking project has been a true catalyst for the Finnish space industry, paving the way for innovation and new ventures—especially for Kuva Space, as it was the first in-orbit demonstration of our satellite and camera technology. A huge thank you to Professor Jaan Praks for his visionary leadership and guidance throughout this journey and for fostering a dynamic space ecosystem in Finland.
