    🏉🏈 Rugby vs. American Football: How Do Their Training Styles Differ? Using our Firstbeat big data, we compared the training styles of men’s rugby and American football players. Here’s what we discovered: • Rugby Players: They train with higher Movement Intensity (average Movement Load per minute) over longer periods (30 minutes), emphasizing speed and aerobic endurance. • American Football Players: Their training involves high-intensity bursts (less than 10 seconds) but doesn’t sustain this intensity throughout the session like rugby players, focusing more on power and speed for short, fast spurts in their interval-based games.     The idea of a holiday is to get a break from work routines and tight schedules and do things that you enjoy. 🤸♀️ There are a lot of ways to take a great holiday; the main thing is to make sure it works for you, your budget, and your needs. This, of course, is not so easy… 🤔 What if your holiday didn't go as planned? Perhaps you got sick? Your schedule filled up with too many things? Or maybe life threw other curve balls in the way of your ideal holiday? It’s important to remember that we shouldn't just live for the holidays! Instead of always pushing ourselves to the limit until the next weekend or holiday, we should take every effort to recharge and recuperate on a daily and weekly basis. If we adopt that mindset and pay attention to balance and recovery throughout the year, we can enjoy life with better energy most of the time - and probably get more out of our holidays, too. 🧘♀️ #recovery #balancedlife   I made a #FirstbeatLife measurement before my holiday to see where I was at and repeated it this week, a few days after being back. My data was not great before the summer (sleep scores were ranging from 31 - 39/100), due to various things going on in my life. My time-off wasn’t all zen-like perfection, either ... I had a cold (probably Covid) right before my holiday and felt far from 100%. I truly enjoyed my time-off, but had to be very conscious of taking it easy (a bit annoying because I'd wanted to do some longer kayaks and hikes). I wondered what my data would be like, but the result made me happy: - Overall score 74/100, with balanced resources and good #physicalactivity pts. from biking to work. - A better #sleep result (62/100) than I've had in almost a year, with higher #hrv, lower heart rate, and less #stress reactions. 😴 - Good daytime #recovery: Stress-recovery balance 76/100, compared to 46 pre-holiday. Of course, this doesn't mean that everything is permanently better now, but a good example of why it's worthwhile to collect some #wellness data once in a while. Sometimes the data might be worse than you thought, prompting you to make a few adjustments. Other times, you get a better result and can give yourself a pat on the back: "I'm doing something right". For me, the result was a positive affirmation - the holiday period boosted my well-being and hopefully I've managed to kick the after-effects of the cold and can head towards the fall with good #energy #resilience. Might be a good time to check what your #Firstbeat data looks like, if you haven't done it in a while!     The autonomic nervous system reacts and regulates so many systems in our body.
