We are one of the supporters of the 2X Challenge 2024-2027! A multilateral coalition of public and private sector investors pledged to invest US$20 billion in women’s economic empowerment over the next three years. "For us as an impact investor, it is clear that targeting gender equality and seeking to close the gender gap has benefits for both business and society – and, as a result, for our investment" says our Senior Environmental and Social Adviser Lauri Etelämäki. "If people are not equal and do not have similar possibilities in society or at the workplace, human resources are not used efficiently." Finnfundilla on tällä hetkellä neljä suoraa investointia Vietnamissa ja uusia sijoitusmahdollisuuksia etsitään aktiivisesti. Ekonomistimme Nea Tiililä näkee Vietnamin markkinassa useita vetovoimatekijöitä sijoittajalle: Maan etuna on dynaaminen työmarkkina, jota tukee talouskasvun lisäksi nuori ja kasvava väestö. Palkat ovat kilpailukykyisiä, mikä pitää tuotannon kustannukset maltillisina. Lisäksi Vietnam on avoin markkinatalous, jolla on useita kauppasopimuksia. "Vaikka Vietnam on yksipuoluevaltio, sen poliittinen ympäristö ja hallinto on vakaa, mikä tukee liiketoimintaympäristön ennustettavuutta", Tiililä toteaa. 📖 Lue lisää: https://lnkd.in/dNb5eVHF 📖 Finnfund Insights -raportti (englanniksi): https://lnkd.in/dnpBkktf #vaikuttavuussijoittaminen #vietnam #finnfund4impact

South Sudan has one of the lowest rates of mobile access and connectivity in the world. Finnfund provides a 5 million US dollar mezzanine loan to Communication and Renewable Energy Infrastructure (CREI) in order to facilitate installing, operating and maintaining 413 telecom site hybrid power solutions in South Sudan. The project is expected to benefit over 2 million people by enhancing the reliability of the connection in a country that has the world’s poorest mobile connection. “I can’t think of a better project to kick off the Africa Connected program and Finnfund’s path as an implementing partner of the EFSD Guarantees”, says Valtter Louhivuori, Head of Finnfund’s Nairobi office. The Africa Connected program seeks to accelerate investments in impactful digital infrastructure and solutions companies in Africa. “Improved mobile connections contribute to economic growth and improve living standards and inclusivity through increased access to financial, education and healthcare services”, Louhivuori adds. This week has been busy for our Energy & Infrastructure team at the Africa Energy Forum in Barcelona! Jussi Tourunen, Head of Finnfund's Energy and Infrastructure portfolio, participated in a roundtable discussing how to balance Africa’s needs with global goals. "Luckily, renewable energy is often the most cost-efficient way to produce electricity" he says, referring to the fact that there is still a lot to do before energy access is ensured for all. Helena Teppana was one of the panelists discussing the growth of e-mobility and its impact on the power sector. "So far, all our investments in e-mobility have been in Asia, but there is a lot going on in Africa right now and I see that many projects will be reaching our investment criteria in 1-2 years" she says.
