At the core of Finarte lies the fusion of circular design principles with the rich tradition of carpet weaving. Much like the artistry of grandmothers crafting rugs from repurposed sheets, we embrace this timeless concept 🧡 Our approach involves utilizing waste, specifically the surplus from the local textile industry, to breathe life into rugs skillfully woven by artisans in India. As trailblazers in circular design, Finarte has been committed to incorporating recycled materials into our creations since 1985. Beyond our sustainable product line, we extend our dedication to circularity through comprehensive services. Our offerings include maintenance and rental services, strategically designed to elongate the lifecycle of our products. Through this holistic approach, Finarte not only pioneers circular design but also actively contributes to a more sustainable and responsible future 💡 Read more about our sustainability efforts on our website! #FinarteDesign #CircularDesign #Sustainability #Pioneering

Design stories 💌 Minni Havas: Where Fashion Design Meets Illustration. Hailing from Helsinki, Minni Havas is a dynamic designer and illustrator whose creative journey is deeply rooted in the world of fashion. Her distinctive background in fashion design infuses a trend-setting and pop culture-driven element into her work, setting her apart in the realm of design. Minni's artistic identity is multifaceted. As an illustrator, her signature style leans towards realism, capturing intricate details with a keen eye. This realism takes a fascinating turn when applied to textiles, where Minni's creations take on a more stylized and abstract form. Her textiles, marked by unexpected color combinations, reflect a unique synthesis of nature and art, showcasing her eclectic inspirations. #FinarteDesign #FinnishDesign #Designer

How to Clean and Maintain Cotton Rugs 💡 Cotton and cotton blend rugs are known for their durability and practicality. To keep your rug looking its best, regular cleaning is key. Here's a practical guide to help you maintain your cotton rug: Regular Vacuuming: Use a vacuum cleaner with low suction power and a nozzle specifically designed for rug cleaning. Modern vacuum cleaners are efficient, but excessive suction power can damage the rug, especially knotted cotton rugs. Avoid Tamping and Shaking: Refrain from tamping or shaking your rug, as this can damage its handmade structure. Stain Removal: While cotton doesn't repel dirt like wool, it's easy to clean with water. For stains, gently rub the affected area with a damp cleaning cloth and mild detergent. Hand Washing: For Finarte cotton rugs, hand wash or flat wash at 30 degrees (80F) using a mild detergent. Avoid soaking the rug and wash striped rugs along with the stripes. Rinse thoroughly. Drying: Dry the rug in a shady place on a flat surface or hang it to dry, ensuring water drains along with the stripes. Do not roll or fold a wet rug. Environmental Considerations: When washing rugs, choose a location where the washing water won't enter the water system directly. For large cotton rugs, consider professional cleaning due to their weight when wet. By following these practical tips, you can effectively clean and maintain your cotton rugs for long-lasting beauty and durability. What is fair design to us? 💡 As per the Finnish Textile & Fashion Association, approximately 80 percent of the value of a Finnish product stays within Finland, even when its production occurs elsewhere. When you choose Finarte products, you contribute to supporting Finnish family entrepreneurship and employment, both domestically and internationally. Employment in developing countries has a two-fold positive impact, fostering local job opportunities while enhancing the well-being of our collaborators in both India and Finland. Despite production occurring abroad, around 80 percent of the value of a Finnish product remains within Finland. Our commitment to fairness extends not only to our international collaborators but also to the Finnish designers we engage with. We consistently provide deserving designers with fair compensation for their contributions. Our collaboration is grounded in a royalty agreement, ensuring that product designers receive a share for each product sold. #FinarteDesign #ForJoyfulLiving #FairDesignEthics #DesignWithIntegrity

Design stories 💌 Eija Rasinmäki, the visionary co-founder and senior designer of Finarte, traces her design journey back to her early years when her mother's weaving ignited a passion within her. Gifted a loom and encouraged to explore rug design, she embarked on her creative path in 1970, establishing her distinctive style and eventually founding her own company. With a dream to elevate traditional Finnish rag rugs from cabins to city homes, Eija's dedication bore fruit. By 1978, her company had blossomed, employing 25 skilled individuals in her weaving mill in Finland. Fate took a turn when she crossed paths with her future husband and co-founder, Erkki Immonen. Together, they launched Finarte in 1985. Beyond her role at Finarte, Eija Rasinmäki has maintained her Finnish weaving factory, Kutomo Rasinmäki, crafting custom pieces on demand. Her artistic creations grace numerous homes and public spaces. Eija's legacy, woven into every rug she designs, continues to leave an indelible mark on the world of design and craftsmanship ✨ #FinarteDesign #DesignVisionary #LegacyCraftsman
