    Our Experience Visitor Centre received a Sustainable Travel Finland certificate from Visit Finland in 2020 as a sign of our dedication to promoting sustainable tourism. To lead the way and create a better future, we need to keep developing.💫 Here are some examples of what we do and how we inspire our visitors to take everyday sustainability actions: ✅In the exhibition tour our guide introduces visitors to topics such as sustainable sourcing and utilisation of side streams. Young people in particular challenge our guides with sharp questions about food waste and packaging materials, which is why we talk about recycling and encourage visitors to sort. ♻️ ✅Our outdoor garden and seasonal greenhouse in the yard as well as the herb wall and tropical indoor garden help to learn new things about plants and inspire to try growing food yourself. ✅In our Fazer café we aim at careful planning and using seasonal raw materials. We offer a wide assortment of plant-based products. Food waste is avoided by finding new ways to use leftover ingredients and selling overnights with the ResQ service. ✅Reusable shopping and gift bags are made of either FCS certified paper or bio-based Paptic®. Both can be recycled as paper or biowaste. 🛍️ ✅The amount of biogas needed for heating the visitor centre is generated from Fazer's production waste. ✅The amount of energy used for lighting comes from solar panels on the roof of an adjacent office building. ☀️ Since its opening in 2016, our Fazer Experience Visitor Centre has attracted many visitors, and by spring 2024, is has welcomed a total of 1.5 million visitors.     The future of chocolate sounds fascinating! 🍫✨ “Our passion is to create food experiences and at the same time enable sustainable lifestyles. Consumers are increasingly conscious of the impact of cocoa on the environment and expect companies to provide sustainable solutions. To succeed, we must simply put the consumer first!”, said Annika Porr, Senior Manager, Forward Lab at Fazer Confectionery in the Food Innovate Summit in Madrid last week. In addition to iconic brands Fazer is a forerunner in disruptive innovations. Taste the Future is a consumer centric concept that provides a platform for prototyping and branding various alternatives to chocolate. “We have tested new ingredients and manufacturing methods in innovations such as candy tablet, where cocoa is replaced with malt, Solein® chocolate bar, oat choco hearts with upcycled ingredients. During pilot sales we have collected consumer feedback to develop products further”, continued Annika.🔍 Fazer is committed to combating climate change in accordance with its sustainability ambitions, and there is also a need to explore alternative sources for cocoa such as cell-cultured cocoa.     Mattias Wivesson appointed Chief Procurement Officer for Fazer Group   Mattias Wivesson, (b. 1975) has been appointed as the company’s new CPO and member of the extended Fazer Leadership Team. He will assume his position on September 1, 2024.   “During these past very turbulent years, reflected by availability issues, high inflation and low visibility, the CPO role has become more crucial than ever.     How to secure a high-quality and large harvest🌾We participate in a research project related to farming practices launched last year as part of our Grain Vision work. The two-year project aims to produce practical guidelines that have been proven to reduce emissions caused by nitrogen fertilisation while ensuring a first-class harvest. The initiator of the cooperation project is Yara Suomi and in addition to Fazer another food company HKFoods is involved. "I welcome our collaboration with fertiliser producer Yara. Fazer has promoted more sustainable farming practices through our Grain Vision program over last ten years. The improvement of cultivation methods is crucial to adjust grain farming to climate change and lower emissions in accordance with our SBTi commitment," says Kaisa Mattson, Director, Sustainability and Quality, Group Procurement, at Fazer. Nitrogen is the main constraint on crop growth, but also a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. The Yara Kotkaniemi research station in Vihti, Finland is currently studying how accurate nitrogen use can increase the carbon sequestration of plants and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Of the crops, clover-rich grass and spring wheat are included.     Yesterday, the Nordic MICHELIN stars ⭐️were awarded in Helsinki, and Fazer had the honour of being one of the local main partners of the ceremony, just like last year. Fazer's Chef de Cuisine, Tapio Bergström, and Chef de Patisserie, Piia Raunio prepared plant-based Finnish traditional delicacies with a new twist for the event guests, including blueberry milk and a raspberry-blueberry pie, a reinterpretation of the traditional Finnish blueberry pie “mustikkakukko.” 🫐 The MICHELIN stars are the most prestigious honours for restaurants. The annual MICHELIN Guide Ceremony is among the world's most famous culinary events, gathering chefs from MICHELIN restaurants and other food and restaurant industry professionals. The dishes on the event's menu were incredible, and every detail was carefully considered. We at Fazer are truly proud to offer high-quality Nordic cuisine to top professionals in the industry.     Viime viikolla vietettiin Fazerilassa jälleen Maistuvaa Päivää, kun saimme vieraaksemme Leppävaaran koulun ysit sekä Myllypuron koulun seiskat. Päivän aikana kuultiin lisää työstä elintarvikealalla ja Fazerilla, pelattiin tietovisaa, syötiin lounasta ja käytiin kierroksella Vierailukeskuksessamme. Oman Fazer-tarinansa meille kävi jakamassa ysiluokkalainen Lotta Juvonen, joka työskentelee koulun ohella osa-aikaisesti Fazer Café 8th Floorin kahvilassa. Lotta tuli ensimmäistä kertaa Fazerille 13-vuotiaana TET-harjoitteluun, jatkoi siitä Tutustu työelämään ja tienaa -kesäharjoitteluun ja nykyisin Lotta tekee kahvilatyötä viikonloppuisin peruskouluopintojensa ohella. Lotta oli varmasti vieraillemme hieno ja inspiroiva esimerkki kuinka jo alaikäisenä voi löytää itselleen mieluisan osa-aikatyön koulun oheen! Maistuva päivä on Elintarviketeollisuusliitto ry ja elintarvikealan yritysten yhdessä vuosittain toukokuussa järjestämä teemaviikko, jonka aikana yläkouluikäiset nuoret pääsevät tutustumaan alan yrityksiin ja monipuolisiin työtehtäviin. Vierailupäivä elintarvikeyrityksessä on mahdollisuus kurkistaa elintarvikeyrityksen toimintaan ja kuulla alan työtehtävistä on kerännyt paljon kiitosta yritysvierailluille osallistuneilta nuorilta ja heidän opettajiltaan.     ✨Tänään 16.5. vietetään kansainvälistä keliakiapäivää, jonka tarkoituksena on lisätä tietoisuutta keliakiasta ja gluteenittomasta ruokavaliosta. Keliakia on autoimmuunisairaus, johon ei ole olemassa lääkehoitomuotoa, vaan sairautta hoidetaan poistamalla ruokavaliosta gluteeni. 💙 Me Fazerilla haluamme luoda ruokaelämyksiä, jotka tuovat iloa ja merkitystä arkeen.     Fazer Bakery’s Oululainen Reilu brand and the Finnish Paralympic Committee - Suomen Paralympiakomitea have signed a multi-year cooperation agreement. For Reilu, the cooperation is a way to be part of supporting the development of Finnish sports culture. “The aim of the cooperation is to support an equal Finnish sports culture and to bring more visibility to the Special Olympics activities and Sisujengi through a brand familiar to Finns. In the Finnish Paralympic Committee, we found a long-term partner with whom we share similar values, such as equality and the desire to inspire physical activity,” says Anna Kanerva, Chief Marketing Officer, Fazer Bakery Finland.
