Demola are back this Autumn⚡ A new set of Demola’s innovation projects will be available in Glasgow this autumn, offering students the opportunity to apply their skills and create concepts for topics they find genuinely interesting. In collaboration with the University of the West of Scotland, University of Strathclyde and Glasgow Clyde College, these projects cover a variety of topics including transparent decision-making, digital harmony, housing crisis, and the Metaverse (among others). The 8-week process emphasises concrete innovation, using tools from service design, foresight, and systemic thinking. In innovation, everything is interconnected through change-drivers, technological enablers, and the problems our society faces worldwide. I had the privilege to host the Demola final event in #Windhoek, #Namibia, in collaboration with the Namibia University of Science and Technology NUST Namibia. This cohort we had projects that explored future concepts and solutions in key areas such as food safety, skills development, sustainable expeditions, drone-based agricultural systems, transparent governance, and data privacy. Working with Namibia’s next-generation experts and leaders has been truly inspiring! Their contributions bring a valuable African perspective to these globally relevant issues. As a result, we have numerous seeds for new startups and R&D cooperation targeted at matching mainstream customer behaviour in 2035. This forward-thinking approach opens up new perspectives beyond the current window of opportunity and I'm sure these talents will in the very near future shape Namibian and international organisations as well as establish new successful ventures. This event marked the successful conclusion of the second Demola and NUST cohort, with preparations for the next already underway. Stay tuned for more news... Our spring batch with University of the West of Scotland & University of Strathclyde students was officially wrapped up this week when students received their certificates for a job well done. Next project round in Scotland will start in October! 🎉

This is something I and my colleague Hanna Turpeinen has been working with the past three months. Career Impact pilot which is a part of the #univaasa West Coast Gateway programme has been our very first test and it has been a very succesful pilot. Yesterday marked the end of an incredible journey as part of the first cohort of 2024 with Demola Global , an interdisciplinary program that brought together teams focused on diverse areas such as Skills of Tomorrow, Sustainable Travel and Tourism, Food Safety, Data Protection, Government Transparency, and my own team - Drones in Agriculture. As part of the Drones in Agriculture team, we explored the application of drones in the agricultural sector, with a particular emphasis on livestock farming sustainability and animal welfare. This experience has been truly eye-opening, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with my talented team members Emilia Nangombe ANDY LOKADI Lazarus Sitentu Steven Muronga. Busy Bees 🐝 🐝🐝 HTTPS is abuzz with students hard at work, preparing for tomorrow's Presentation of Innovative Ideas | Quadruple-Helix Networking. NUST, in partnership with Demola Global, propels young minds towards a future of enhanced industry-academia collaboration within local innovation ecosystems. The initiative bridges the gap between students, forward-thinking companies and global innovation knowledge under themes such as Sustainable Travel; Innovation in Food Safety; Data Protection, and the Use of Drone Technologies in Agriculture. It was great to co-create such a pilot with the University of Vaasa: to talk about the various aspects and nuances of the working life in Finland and also put it into practice via our innovation projects in Vaasa.

The Scottish Government 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🌟 Thrilled to have been part of the Demola Global at the University of Strathclyde, where my teammates: Rachael Okoh Krishna Priya Eshan Gupta, Gouthami Sheshagiri hegde and I developed an innovative solution to tackle drug and alcohol abuse in the Scottish healthcare system. This issue hits close to home for me, adding a personal layer of motivation to our project. Over the past 10 weeks, amidst university and personal commitments, my teammates and I conducted extensive research, collaborated on solutions, and presented our project to stakeholders. What made this journey even more enriching was working with a diverse team of international students, each bringing a unique perspective to the table. Special thanks to mentors and professionals: Ville Kairamo, Janne Eskola , Heini-Marja Rintaniemi , Marj Clark , Manuel Brauer , Emma McColvin, etc from University of Strathclyde , University of the West of Scotland , CodeBase Stirling and other organisations for their invaluable feedback and support.
