The annual congress of the European Academy of Neurology has become a premier platform for presenting cutting-edge neurological research and innovation, and exchanging knowledge. During this year's conference, a growing and active interest in the field of movement disorders, particularly Parkinson's disease, became evident. The program covered both the promising field of non-invasive therapeutic neuromodulation for Parkinson’s disease as well as the hot topics and future directions for invasive neuromodulation. Another hot topic of this year’s conference was the transition from a clinical definition of Parkinson’s disease to a biological definition and classification of the disease. Overall, there was a clear call to evolve the way how Parkinson’s disease is diagnosed and treated. We are pleased to see this movement in Parkinson’s care and the wider recognition of wearable technology for more accurate and objective symptom assessment, both in scientific studies and clinical practice! This year's congress marks the 10th anniversary of the European Academy of Neurology and records a record-breaking attendance of over 7,000 onsite attendees and 2,000 virtual participants. The congress has become a premier platform for presenting cutting-edge neurological research and innovations, exchanging knowledge, and extending the professional network. During this year's conference, a growing and active interest in the field of movement disorders and particular Parkinson's disease became evident. The conference featured a variety of sessions around Parkinson's disease, such as a thought-provoking discussion on 'Controversies in Parkinson's diagnosis', a highly attended symposium on the 'Biological classification of Parkinson’s disease' as well as several sessions around the challenges of identifying and treating motor fluctuations in Parkinson's disease. A key takeaway from this year's conference is the need for advanced technology in automated monitoring, which is seen as a crucial element for early detection and effective disease management in the future.
