✊✊✊ POWER IN NUMBERS ✊✊✊

Grindstone, Inc. is an awful place to work at. But you can't organize a strike all on your own. You will need the help of your NPC coworkers — even if you have to physically pull them away from their screens.

Labor Power is a small Pikmin-inspired game dedicated to class solidarity and the betterment of working conditions. Labor Power took first place at Gamedev.js Jam 2024 (theme: Power)

I found a softlock, you can push a box up against a guy and then it's impossible to recruit him.

ver nice

Dude! Incredible game! I wish there was more <3

i mean its a cool game ngl

( 1)

what game engine do you use and also its a amazing game

( 1)

Thanks! I use Construct 3 for all of my games

( 1)

A pretty decent little game about unionising.
I only have one suggestion:
- Add a reset button to bring us back to Level 1 and skip the intro dialogue, and keep it available after finishing the gam
This will help make exiting softlocks (entering a level with not enough lives) and replaying the game faster.

( 1)

good game, very unconventional though

what game enginE?

( 1)

I use Construct 3 for all of my projects

( 4)(-24)

Sure love communism

( 32)(-1)

It's not communism to found a union in order to demand that you be treated like actual human beings, no matter what the big wigs like to tell you!

(-45)

My guy, the whole message of the game is communism. The worst ideology ever created.

( 18)

Red Eight Zero speaks the truth.

( 12)

Besides, who else loves launching humans at the higher ups?

( 9)

"The labor may be bitter but its fruits are always sweet" is really lovely. Great game!

( 2)(-2)

Great game, reviews from China

( 1)

fun

( 6)

fun fact: one of the logs say that every elevator uses cost 20 cents, therefore it took 90 cents to get from floor 1 to 10.

( 9)

Really great jam game with a very good message! Thank you for making it and good luck in your future projects!

(-29)

Message is terrible. Communism is the worst ideology

( 7)(-1)

Thank you for the reply! Unrelated, but what's your favourite sport? If you have one, are you very good at it or is it something you just like to do? :)

Bro got stuck on the wall and I had to restart T_T

( 4)

Died at the end but still won :skull: Also a Hard Mode would be nice, its too easy to win

( 5)

would be nice if enemies were drawn in front of coworkers

( 5)

Fun game with a nice conclusion.

( 6)(-1)

Fun game with powerful message. Really love it!

( 6)(-1)

Short, fun, with a f***** fantastic message!

( 5)

Very cute, super well executed. Love some labour solidarity.

soft locked myself into this level T_T

You can reset de level. You need first take the employer on the right, then you move the box for the left of the elevator.

( 1)

such a cool game

( 1)

When they said "BLA BLA" I really felt like their words were green blobs chasing me

( 15)(-4)

as a communist I can say. this is an accurate depiction of revolution.

( 4)(-33)

No a more accurate depiction would be mass genocide

( 3)(-32)

Do not forget the mass concentration camps, theft of technology, and destruction of culture.

( 2)(-21)

They'll think it's okay as long as they get to do it.

( 1)(-24)

Its typical communism.  It sucks for everyone.

(2 edits) ( 5)(-1)

looks like the liberals found this game lmao

(inb4 "NOO IM NOT A LIBERAL! I'M [some flavor of liberalism]")

( 4)

he said communism not imperialism

( 1)

fun way to tell you've been fed up with bullshit about proletariat regimes

(-13)

You know who else has had enough with regimes? The Chinese under communism

(1 edit) ( 6)

sure... china was really happy and prosperous when it was ocupied by foreign countries like england... i miss these old days damn communism...

( 1)

same lol

( 4)

Nice game

( 3)

Эта игра веселая! Спасибо разработчикам Labor Power!

( 3)

( 2)

fun game

( 1)

funny game

It was funny.

Really fun!

fun game !!!

( 20)

suggestion!: when you do the full game you could have real-life statistics and news headlines of actual companies violating workers rights in the "loading screens", that way, if anyone just plays the game as a joke, they will be passively shown real life examples of injustice and hopefully help bring their awareness a tad forward, or give them receipts if they want to prove something to their friends? also, it'd be sick if you used real life unionizing tricks as inspiration for some game mechanics. like maybe you could do something like a "combo strike" where your characters come together to pool their power in some way, and their collective power saps some money from a manager's pocket, and the manager's money=their health bar? that'd be kinda sick... just some small ideas to ruminate on

( 2)

you need to put a tutorial

i just started to click at the final boss

same, i don't know how to complete the ending

just click

i am clicking on the bosses but it doesn't seem to work

(1 edit) ( 8)

I think this game has potential, if you make it into a full game, then here's some suggestions: procedurally generated floors with doors to seperate the different parts of it. More worker types with passive abilities or abilities you can use in battle, such as some buff guy who blocks projectiles but can't be thrown, or a caffeine addict who drops coffee every 45 seconds. a checklist or smth to tell you what you need to do to get to the next room. A skill tree to upgrade yourself and your coworkers. split-screen or online co-op. more bosses. multiple difficulties with altered versions of the bosses to go with it. multiple different paths with different rewards (idk what the rewards would be) power-ups, like a caffeine-shot coffee. different enemy types with abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. and finally, a customizable protagonist with different hair, skin, and outfits.

and before you say "bro thinks i'm gonna read all that" just tell me a full version of this game wouldn't include at least SOME of these features.

if you made it this far thx for reading and goodbye!

( 9)

Thanks for the ideas! I did indeed plan to include more enemies, worker types, and even character customization. Sadly, this was a game jam project, so my time with it was limited.

I will get back to it, along with some of my other projects, and expand on it.

( 1)

thanks! I'm glad you read my comment, even if you don't get around to adding more features.

i really loved this game, i finished it and had fun. Its a good game :D

( 1)

i got stuck on some floor because i pushed the box into the employee and i cant pull it back. 9/10

You can always reload a level by pressing R :)

( 1)

Seems like a good game! I enjoyed it really much.

I really enjoyed this. I wish it weren't so linear but I guess with floors of a building and programming an open world being way more complicated, it's excellent for what it is

( 2)

Reminds me a lot of the Love Me! game series I used to play as a kid. Super fun to play <3
