🌟On October 24, 2024, the Chemical Society of Ethiopia (CSE) hosted a panel discussion at The Hub Hotel Addis Ababa titled "Milestone of the Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Ethiopia and the role of CSE in bridging chemistry and industry". Over 50 participants from various sectors, including academia, research institutions, industries, and members of the CSE.
🌟In this occasion, we celebrate the 100th issue of the Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Ethiopia (BCSE), marking 40 years of peer-reviewed publication in chemistry field.
🌟The panel featured esteemed members of the CSE, including Professor Berhanu Abegaz, Professor Bhagwan Singh Chandravanshi, Professor Teketel Yohannes Anshebo, Professor Desta Mebratu, Professor Shimelis Admassie, Professor Abi Taddesse Mengesha, Mr Tilahun yiheyis, and Dr. Getachew Adam Workneh
🌟Prof. Shimelis Admassie opened the discussion with reflections on the Bulletin's early years, and Professor Bhagwan Singh Chandravanshi provided an overview of its current status, noting a manuscript acceptance rate of 35% and an impact factor of 1.3 in 2024 and Prof. Teketel Yohannes Anshebo addressed journal evaluation and accreditation in Ethiopian journals, discussing the BCSE's standing in this context and emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards for scientific publications.
🌟Prof. Desta Mebratu participated in the event, reflecting on his time as vice president and president of the CSE in the early 1990s. He emphasized the Bulletin's sustained periodic publication and its upcoming transition to twelve issues per year starting in 2025. He highlighted its growing reputation as an internationally recognized scientific publication, indexed in Chemical Abstracts and SCOPUS, along with a significantly higher impact factor. Prof. Desta congratulated all successive members of the Editorial Board and the leadership of CSE for this monumental achievement. He paid tribute to the critical leadership of Professor Berhanu Abegaz, the first President of CSE and the first Editor-in-Chief of the Bulletin, and Professor Bhagwan Singh Chandravanshi, who has been instrumental as the longest-serving Editor-in-Chief.
