Women’s exclusion from the formal peace processes is an indication of the broad systematic gender inequality in the political, social, and economic spheres. The continued absence of women in peace processes require a re-assessment of the strategies used to promote women’s participation with a view of formulating new approaches to enhance women’s access, ascension, and leadership to formal political and peace building processes. Addressing these inequalities calls for context appropriate policies and data to inform the effectiveness and impact of the various strategic measure put in place. 🕊️The upcoming 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 will mobilize ongoing support and solidarity for improving the situation of women in the region and initiating a shift in approaches to peace, by incorporating women’s leadership and a gender perspective in the Luanda peace process. 🌐To learn more about the Forum, visit https://ow.ly/2eyH50TE3iC
