Harnessing digital technologies to enhance communication, data collection, and service delivery is essential for optimizing our efforts as we wrap up the 2nd High Level #CommunityHealthDeliveryPartnership (CHDP) Meeting. We note the tremendous support from our partners who have come together to align their resources with country plans. This collaboration is more urgent than ever, as aligning plans, budgets, and implementation strategies at the country level is crucial to achieve impactful results. By strengthening community-based primary health care, we can extend essential health services to vulnerable populations, improve access to care, and address health inequities. Supporting #communityhealthworkers by improving their status, rights, and protections is key to this effort. Evidence-based programmes that empower these workers to deliver integrated services effectively can help countries achieve universal health coverage. Together, we can create a sustainable path toward Universal Health Coverage and a healthier future for all. #SDG Fouzia Shafique

As delegates from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Uganda gather for the #CommunityHealthDeliveryPartnership (CHDP) High-Level Partners Meeting in Washington DC this week, our focus turns to the unsung heroes: community health workers and the miracles they perform every day saving children's lives. 🌍👩⚕️ These dedicated individuals are at the heart of our efforts to strengthen community-based health and nutrition care. They bridge gaps, reaching vulnerable populations in remote areas and marginalized communities. Harnessing digital tools supports them in locating unvaccinated and under-vaccinated children, helping make sure children don't miss out on routine immunization. By empowering them, we address unmet health needs in culturally appropriate ways, improve access to services, and enhance health system performance and efficiency. 💪🏽🌿 Let’s champion #CommunityHealth, invest in these vital workers, and work towards health for all! 🌎🌟 #InvestInHealth #SDG

👾 Digital play can be more than entertainment; it’s a powerful tool for children to explore, construct, and express themselves. The latest UNICEF Innocenti - RITEC report shows how children use online games to connect with broader career aspirations, hobbies, or interests; while also exploring individual, collective, or future identities. Given the broad concept of identity and varied reactions to games among children, companies and designers must consider local contexts, cultural diversity, and different needs. This ensures digital play can be a transformative tool for positive experiences. Read the complete report here: https://lnkd.in/dxrQisyA #DigitalPlay #DigitalTechnology #OnlineGames

By Norman Muhwezi, PRINCE2®, MBA, Thomas Noel Gaha, Remy Mwamba and Sonia Sarkar. Nelly Neema is a beacon of hope in the fight against polio in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). As a U-Report community leader, she has witnessed first-hand the transformative power of community engagement and technology in addressing public health challenges. Her story is part of a larger narrative of innovation and dedication in overcoming the country's vaccination hurdles. The DRC faces significant health challenges, including multiple disease outbreaks like polio, which require strengthening routine immunization and conducting vaccination campaigns. The country's vast and often inaccessible landscape presents challenges for healthcare providers. Without real-time information on immunization coverage and community concerns about vaccines, many children remain unvaccinated or under vaccinated and remain at high risk of illnesses and deaths from vaccine-preventable diseases. To fight this, the Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) section at UNICEF in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has implemented several groundbreaking initiatives to support the DRC’s Ministry of Health. One of the key strategies has been deploying 180 U-Report communities across the country. These communities are integral to raising awareness about the importance of vaccination. They identify zero-dose and under-vaccinated children, report reasons for vaccine refusal, and alert health surveillance teams about potential cases of acute flaccid paralysis. “U-Report communities are a part of UNICEF’s global initiative to engage young people and communities through mobile technology,” explains Karin Kallander, UNICEF's Chief of Digital Health and Information Systems. “The platform allows young people to innovate and voice their opinions on issues affecting their lives and communities. We are leveraging the U-Report platform across countries to focus on zero-dose children.” Read the rest of the article here https://lnkd.in/gXrb5pTa

UNICEF's Reaching the Unreached programme in West and Central Africa uses machine learning to combine satellite imagery, census projections, national household surveys and geospatial data to identify settlements, and map population distribution in detail. By integrating this data with #immunization coverage from national surveys, we can map under-vaccinated and zero-dose children down to a village level. UNICEF HQ Digital Health Chief, Karin Källander shares her views from a recent G20 meeting focusing on leveraging artificial intelligence to reach children who have missed out on life-saving vaccination. #HumanlyPossible. https://lnkd.in/gPzHABif World Health Organization; PAHO;Inter-American Development Bank;UNICEF USA; UNICEF Innovation; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
