“What is the point of knowing much, if we do not know what for?”
Marina Garcés, Writer and Philosopher.
Based on the living lab methodology, the Espai d’Intercanvi d’Experiències - or Patient Experience Forum - of Barcelona Hospital Clínic, promotes an innovative work method through co-creation, debate and collaboration among all the stakeholders involved in the health ecosystem, with special emphasis on the voice of patients, caregivers and citizens.
It encourages a change of approach in care, to reflect and rethink the healthcare model from the citizen’s perspective, with the aim to improve his experience as patient, caregiver, relative, and add value to healthcare processes.
Introducing the citizen’s perspective means addressing the needs he or she identifies, to move towards an integrated person-centred care.
The Forum team offers an extensive portfolio of services based on the following categories:
(i) The evaluation of the patient experience, through interviews, surveys, focus groups.
(ii) Innovation in services based on co-creation, design thinking, prototyping and testing of innovative solutions with citizens.
(iii) Research and training with the participation in competitive European or national projects, the creation of training modules for health professionals and citizens.
(iv) Dissemination of the results, feedback and knowledge obtained.
The EIE has received financial support from "La Caixa" and Esteve Teijin. ISGlobal - Barcelona Institute for Global Health and the Fundació Clínic per la Recerca Biomèdica (FCRB) also support the EIE activities.
