See how 'Les Demoiselles d'Avignon' do their best to capture the attention of museum visitors. Even though the women adopt alluring (angular and fragmented) poses, their profound impact on the development of modern art goes unnoticed by some visitors. Most museums provide informative wall texts and audio guides to enrich your understanding of these masterpieces. But I wonder, if placing such artworks within a broader historical or thematic context encourage visitors to linger and explore its deeper significance for a few more seconds? Inspired by his encounters with African and Oceanic sculptures at the Musée d'Ethnographie du Trocadéro, #PabloPicasso's revolutionary approach transcended naturalism, forever reshaping the course of art. The question arises: aside from situating the masterpiece among its contemporaries to accentuate its disruptive development, would the inclusion of such objects alongside Picasso's work detract from, or instead, enrich the visitor's understanding of its pivotal role in the development of modern art? #art #museum #modernart #MoMa

🌟 You can now watch the presentation of Nicolás Testoni, Director of Ferrowhite (museo taller) - museum workshop, Bahía Blanca, Argentina, during the CIMAM Annual Conference in Buenos Aires! Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires Discover the unconventional world of Ferrowhite, a workshop museum that redefines the boundaries between artifacts and creation. In this thought-provoking presentation on the first day of the conference, which addressed topics under the theme "How can museums assume their social responsibility? A question from the Americas", Nicolás Testoni challenges traditional concepts, blurring the boundaries between a museum and a work of art. 🎨 Ferrowhite is not just a museum; it is a dynamic workshop where artifacts are displayed and meticulously crafted. It goes beyond being a repository of historical objects; it is a living testimony to the collective work that has preserved them. The essence of the Ferrowhite collection lies not only in the objects but in the collective effort that has safeguarded them. Nicolas Testoni's vision unfolds as Ferrowhite challenges the notion of autonomy, contemplating survival in difficult times and imagining a kinder future amidst a dystopian present. The museum workshop becomes a space of everyday creation, where objects are displayed and manufactured to understand the present and future. Watch the recording of Nicolas Testoni's presentation on CIMAM TV. Delve into the depth of Ferrowhite's story, where heritage is managed communally, offering a new perspective on the social responsibility of museums. #CIMAM23 #TheCoCreativeMuseum https://lnkd.in/dUiCQTTd

Of course this art is crazy. What art is not crazy? When it's not crazy it's not art. Jean Dubuffet Obviously by 1945 the world was also crazy and there were many who questioned the processes and genealogies of creators authenticated as artists. If we listen to Dubuffet, as to anyone else who has arguments to define concepts based on experiences and observations, we arrive at one of the possible questions, we can all be creators of art: Social art, urban art in the street or in galleries? Where to find it? Although perhaps the question is where we can experience the sensation/reflection/experience that art awakens in us. As a game for the intellect, for our own existence... we keep asking ourselves and questioning the evolution or involution that the manifestations (with the tools incorporated in this era, pose us). #artbrut #landart #urbanart https://lnkd.in/ditTEWiB and if you have time check this (https://lnkd.in/d9rnqXkM)

A virtual experience is a gate to observe art uniquely – a way to make the impossible possible. What cannot exist in the physical world can easily be a reality in the virtual. Online exhibitions and virtual art allow artists to explore art exhibitions from a fresh perspective. What happens when a painter and a rock musician collaborate to create an out-of-this-reality online art exhibition? Will the result be more than merely the sum of art and space? Painter Petri Ala-Maunus and rock musician Sami Yaffa created the La-La Land Dark Side virtual art exhibition and discovered a new dimension of creativity and inspiration. I recently came across the slogan on the Pérez Art Museum's website: “Por favor, don’t touch the art.” 🖼️🚫 🧤🛡️ And I'm sure you've seen it yourself in many art institutions—specially designated people next to artworks, sometimes with gloves and uniforms, manicured frames, fences, frightening signs… 🎨 Is art something we should admire from a distance? I don’t think so. Art is not a static or passive object; it is meant to be engaging, for our own sake as well: it helps us understand what it means to be human and what it means to live in this world. When we place art behind barriers and treat it as a high-priced commodity, we lose the experience of interacting with it holistically.✨ 💭 Yes, I understand the need to protect delicate pieces but the overarching message of “don’t touch” seems to perpetuate the idea that art is too precious for direct interaction. This reinforces the institutionalization of art, turning it into a mere product of capitalism rather than a living, breathing experience.💡 🤔 What are your thoughts on this approach to art? *** #artengagement #museumculture #artaccessibility #interactiveart #culturalinstitutions #artinpublicspaces #artandsociety #artcritique #artandcapitalism #artexperience #museumcritique #artdialogue #culturalcommentary #arteducation #artforall #miamiart #artinmiami #floridarts

SUPPLY CHAIN ADVISORY & INTERIM MANAGEMENT @ Northern Logistics Advisory Group | BUSINESS VENTURES @ The Public Vyou
In August 2023 I joined the global Antler start-up program that helps entrepreneurs develop their business ideas at the speed of light ⚡, and provides access to pre-seed funding. One big take I had from the program was "Characteristics of a good problem to solve": 1) Painful: So painful or expensive without fixing, that potential users have a high willingness to pay. 2) Popular: Millions of people are afflicted. 3) Frequent: Users experience the problem several times per day. 4) Growing: Structurally growing potential market. 5) Urgent: This needs to be solved right now. 6) Unavoidable: The problem will still exist, despite e.g. regulatory changes. I struggled between running an idea ticking all the boxes from my experience in the logistics industry, and another idea within ART. The art idea DID NOT TICK ANY OF THE BOXES. ❌ 🤦♂️ Guess my choice of venture? Those of you who know me. Art of course... 🤗 Long story short. No VC backup at this stage, but the iteration continues. At the speed of a turtle, we are now entering step one in trying out a new concept of experiencing art... The Public Art Gallery aims to be a globally accessible physical art gallery by connecting artists, art collectors, and curated venues. Our mission: To transform selected spaces into vibrant galleries, capturing the true spirit and meaning of art. 💚 Whatever happens, I´m proud that we now collaborate and iterate with one of the largest coffee shops in the Nordics; Waynes Coffee, and one of the most recognized art galleries in the Nordics; NOA Gallery. The concept at this stage is very low-tech, manual, and hands-on 📠. Nevertheless, we have learned a lot already, and I´m looking forward to the next 999 steps before the idea looks something at the level I´d like it to be. 😁 Next time you are in Stockholm, grab a coffee at Waynes Coffee ☕☕☕, Vasagatan 40. Take a rest, experience the art 🎨 from Catarina Kent, and take a moment of self-reflection. And please send an e-mail to [email protected] with your thoughts. Good or bad, everything is appreciated! 🙏 Thank you Robert Hedlund Gustavo Reis Lars Ragnå Mikael C. Cecilia Göthlin Catarina Kent for believing that bumblebees can fly. And to Antler and Magnus Grimeland with your team for a great learning experience! 🚀 🚀 🚀 You all rock! #art #artexhibition #waynes #stockholm #noagallery #thepublicartgallery #antler
Our very first exhibition is now up and running! In collaboration with Waynes Coffee and NOA Gallery, we showcase some exclusive art from Catarina Kent to be explored at Waynes Coffee Shop at Vasgatan 40 in Stockholm. The limited art can also be viewed and purchased online. This week I visited Madrid's Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS) is a Spanish museum of 20th-century and contemporary art. Integral to the museum is the La Central del MNCARS Library and Documentation Center is a specialized library in contemporary art that houses a wide range of bibliographic and documentary collections related to 20th and 21st-century artistic practices. It includes the Central Archive, preserves over 100,000 monographs, 3,500 sound recordings, and provides access to digitized materials through the LaDigitaldelReina platform. This reminded me of the in person and in place facilitation of open access whereby the main objective of the Library is to provide Spanish citizens with access to its funds and collections, which include more than 100,000 monographs, 3,500 sound recordings, nearly 1,000 videos, 2,500 periodical publications and 10,500 archival documents. We need to continually remind ourselves of the need for open access and open science to advance societal benefit. #openaccess #scholarlypublishing #academicpublishing #madrid

Dive into contemporary artistic creation with Angela Lampe, Commissioner of the Prix Marcel Duchamp 2023 exhibition. Interviewed by our expert laurent Issaurat, Head of our Art Banking service, she leads us to discover the universes of the four artists nominated this year, their projects for the exhibition, and highlights the potential conversations between their works. Bertille Bak: A video installation exploring the flower industry, a field marked by an imbalanced North/South relationship. Bouchra Khalili: A selection of works from diverse corpora, weaving links between individual narratives and the collective history of struggles. Tarik Kiswanson: Monumental cocoon-like sculptures and assemblages that explore states arising from the experience of displacement, war, and trauma. Massinissa Selmani: An installation around the ellipse, putting into perspective the idea of crossing and horizon, of fictional territories in conflict situations. These works, although created independently, seem to intertwine around reflections on the social and collective, offering visitors a rich and multidimensional experience. #ContemporaryArt #MarcelDuchampPrize #AngelaLampe #SociétéGénérale #ArtBanking #Exhibition #CentrePompidou #FrenchArt #ADIAF #ArtisticInnovation
