Late last week, ACAPMA provided a submission to the Federal Parliamentary Inquiry into the EV Transition in Australia. With this area having been a major focus of ACAPMA’s advocacy efforts over the past 5 years, the Association seized the opportunity to provide a comprehensive discussion of the current challenges of the EV transition. Central amongst these challenges is the difficulty of making commercial investments in costly EV charging infrastructure in the face of growing national and international uncertainty about the short to medium outlook for growth in EVs. #acapma #fuelindustry #fuelandconvenience #advocacy

Great event today at Baringa’s Green Building and Transport Forum, bringing together key players across the industry to discuss two key topics: 1) Why data, insights and home energy management are critical to the energy transition and EV adoption, and 2) Baringa and Citizens Advice talking about Citizens Advice recent study assessing the value to wider society on improving the UKs housing stock. Key takes aways for me centre around: How we can’t look on at one piece of the jigsaw in isolation, but instead we must take an end to end view (this is why we need a one stop shop) There needs to be relentless focus on the customer to meet their needs - this can’t be generic It must be easy to understand, recommendations need to be personalised and we must dispel complexity. The in-life experience needs to be simple. Data is important to the customer, but also the installer. To deliver on the promise we need to use analytics to improve the transparency of operation and hold the supply chain to account to ensure systems run well. This will build greater trust from better performance and reliability. Trust - trust is essential!! And this is not simply an energy problem for the energy market to resolve! The benefits to addressing the poor UK housing stock are undeniable. The positive impact this can have on people’s lives, improve their well-being really stands out for me. On national #mentalhealthday we shouldn’t overlook the benefits living in a healthy home can have! Very much looking forward to the next one of these, there is always great #energy in the room & I love to see the excitement in the industry to collaborate and tackle the challenges we face transitioning to #greenhomes and #greentransport With huge thanks to our speakers Casey Cole of Guru Systems Ltd. 🌱 Absolutely delighted to see Hometree 's CEO Simon Phelan's announcement on Sky News discussing how to decarbonise homes in the UK and HomeTree's acquisition of The Little Green Energy Company | TLGEC and GEOWARMTH HEAT PUMPS LIMITED! 🏠 Residential properties are responsible for between 17-21% of energy-related carbon emissions globally. This is a massive problem. 💷 In the UK there are 29 million homes that need to be decarbonised and upgraded to low carbon heating systems by 2050. 😥 The UK’s housing stock is one of the oldest and worst insulated in all of Europe, with only 15% of housing being built since 1990. 😕 Decarbonising residential heating is a difficult task due to the scale, complexity, and cost of the challenge. It’s currently too complicated for people to adapt their homes for net zero and too often things go wrong: * Consumer confusion - right now the process of installing low-carbon heating, upgrading insulation or installing smart technologies is time-consuming, confusing and stressful. Researching and choosing the right technology, finding a reputable installer and having the work completed demands huge amounts of knowledge, time and effort. * Things go wrong too often - the process of making adaptations is often beset by problems, including poor installation, technologies not working as expected, and people facing difficulties fixing things when they go wrong. ☀️ HomeTree is backing brilliant businesses offering installation and maintenance for heat pumps and solar panels in the UK 💷 UK households would be better off by up to £300 a year by switching to renewable energy. 💡 HomeTree are making it simpler and more affordable for more homeowners to access these benefits. 😀 To accelerate their mission to decarbonise UK homes, HomeTree have a new debt facility from BlackRock. 🎉 Congrats to Simon and the team!
