The recent The Leading Hotels of the World Convention proved to be both enlightening and motivating. I'm thrilled to share some key insights from the event, offering a glimpse into our continuous "Think Tank" development process.
LHW's Leader's Club showed tremendous growth and underscored the importance of looking after loyal customers. It is also a clear trend that more and more customers want to be recognised as global travellers and their expectation is a curated, individual experience.
Looking ahead to 2024, a significant shift from personal luxury purchases to experiential luxury, particularly in travel, is on the horizon. Our unique selling proposition at The Chedi Luštica Bay lies in the great outdoors, where travellers seek personalised, authentic, and memorable adventures. As buying power transitions from Baby Boomers to Millennials, emphasizing entertainment and personalised guest journeys becomes paramount. The luxury traveller feels more prosperous than ever and is eager to explore, aligning perfectly with our offerings.
Geographically, business to the Mediterranean from America is set for double-digit growth, LATAM displays an accelerated booking pace, and APAC is making a robust comeback. Understanding the unique preferences of the Asian market, especially younger generations with a preference for digitalised integrations is essential for our strategic planning.
Sustainability emerges as a crucial aspect of the guest experience. Our Green Team initiatives have laid a strong foundation, but there's a need for continuous development. Sustainability not only differentiates us but is increasingly vital for the modern upper upscale traveller. As 83% of global travellers prioritise sustainability, it's not just a strategic move but a meaningful way to connect with our guests.
In summary, the future beckons a monumental shift in assets from Baby Boomers to a socially energised capitalist generation. As we transition from Boomers to Zoomers, the question we must grapple with is: What does our hotel need to ensure relevance?
Let's bear one crucial part in mind: luxury hotels must adapt to the preferences of young people who prioritise experiences over ownership and authenticity over formality.
As a team, we've excelled in accelerating growth and transforming the guest experience for the modern traveller. Let's carry forward this momentum with pride, acknowledging our collective achievements this year and eagerly anticipating the continued evolution of the guest experience in the future.
What are your plans to develop your guest's journey?

Understanding the difference between ApartHotels and Traditional Hotels
The distinction between Aparthotels and traditional hotels is nuanced, as seen in this video of an Adina Apartment Hotel. This evolution may seem to blur the lines with traditional hotels, but distinct differences remain and are shaped by the evolving expectations of today's travellers. While both offer unique experiences, their differences cater to specific consumer needs.
Traditional hotels, with their array of facilities, activities, and dining experiences, focus on creating a comprehensive hospitality environment, often leading to smaller room sizes. Aparthotels, on the other hand, prioritise larger living spaces, offering amenities like laundry facilities, kitchenettes, and dining areas, albeit with fewer on-site amenities.
This contrast is a reflection of their targeted market segments, with Aparthotels appealing to those seeking a more homelike experience during their travels, while hotels cater to those desiring a full-service stay. This divergence highlights the rich diversity in accommodation options, addressing the varied preferences of modern travellers.

Summary: What would be the best thing to find in a hotel minibar?
Did you know that the first hotel minibar was introduced in 1974 in the Hong Kong Hilton.
Fast forward 50 years and this is what a modern minibar looks like in my hotel in Nottingham.
In some ways it's impressive that there is a minibar (and the obligatory safe) but the lone bottle of water makes it look a bit anaemic.
Ah the joys of #WorkTravel!
Got me thinking, what would your dream minibar selection be?
