Moreover, most SaaS make use of third party providers for different sub-processes (LLMs, embeddings, reranking…), resulting in private data being transferred and stored on numerous servers across the internet. - 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐀𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐲𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: privacy-aware SaaS services like LegalFly or MOSTLY AI anonymize sensitive data before sending it to AI. This approach combines the ease of adoption and power of SaaS with data privacy. However, it comes with a single point of failure, which is the anonymization algorithm itself. - 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: AI that runs on your laptop or smartphone, such as PrivateGPT (https://privategpt.dev/) or Proton 's Scribe, ensures 100% data privacy since no data leaves your device. However, your device must be powerful (GPU, RAM…), limiting adoption, and the AI capabilities are quite constrained. - 𝐈𝐧-𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: implementing an end-to-end, in-house AI solution that runs within the company's infrastructure ensures privacy and does not limit AI capabilities. Announcing PrivateGPT v0.4.0! It includes a major refactor incorporating powerful improvements to both the codebase and the installation process and dependency management. Main changes: - Full migration to LlamaIndex v0.10; more modular and extensible - First-level support for Ollama as both LLM and Embeddings provider, becoming our recommended Local setup. - Less project dependencies; choose your setup and install only what it requires.
