But, is it step-wise water sustainability approach is on par with the rapid and reported declines in water resources in some EU states? PFAS is perhaps one of the most talked about environmental challenges. But what is it? A nice explainer video from the Atlantean Media team here. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) continue to be a critical concern in the water industry due to their persistence, toxicity, and widespread presence in the environment. Commonly known as 'forever chemicals', PFAS are synthetic substances found in various everyday products such as firefighting foam, non-stick cookware, and water-repellent fabrics. Unfortunately, their widespread use has resulted in water sources being contaminated worldwide. There's a perfect storm brewing to catalyze innovation: the USEPA recent regulatory limits on PFOS & PFOA (4 ppt) legal fines against major polluting companies increased awareness.
