The intricate interconnections of national economies create challenges in optimizing equity exposure across different countries. In our latest research, we trained a model to optimize country selection for G10 equity markets, utilizing RavenPack News Analytics, which evaluates sentiment in macroeconomic news. Backtesting validated the effectiveness of this approach, yielding an Information Ratio between 0.61 and 0.84 for holding periods ranging from 2 days to a week. Empirical Research Partners, LLC explored the potential of analyzing "green hiring" to see if a company's focus on ESG jobs reflects their actual efforts or just public statements. Their study used RavenPack's Jobs Analytics to quantify the number of ESG-related job postings across various companies. When it comes to using large language models to gain an investment edge, choosing the right data is critical. We've been testing a novel approach that uses open-source language models like FinBERT fine-tuned with RavenPack Annotations a dataset of training sentences annotated with sentiment information on the entities detected in each sentence.
