Technology Thursday🤖 🌟 𝗥𝗧𝗞 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗚𝗩 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗠𝗥 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 📡📍   ❓ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗚𝗩𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗠𝗥𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀?   𝗥𝗧𝗞 (Real-Time Kinematic) is a 𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 that gives x, y, z coordinates (must have two GPS receivers for giving w coordinate).   It 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 by using known coordinates of nearby objects (𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀) to correct its own location errors. It utilizes multiple satellite constellations, such as GPS, Galileo, Beidou and Glonass, for better precision. ✅𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀: •       𝗡𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀: unlike other systems, RTK doesn't require physical marks or references for accurate positioning. •       𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: by receiving signals from these satellite constellations and applying corrections based on the known coordinates of the reference object, RTK ensures precise outdoor localization. 🛑𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀: •       𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆: RTK is limited to outdoor environments. •       𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀: in areas with tall buildings, signals can bounce, leading to inaccurate readings. •       𝗜𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀: in certain regions, ionospheric conditions can disrupt GPS signals. Despite these challenges, 𝗥𝗧𝗞 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗮 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗚𝗩𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗠𝗥𝘀, providing the precision needed for complex robotic applications, as we can see in this video from a Movvo.eu tractor using RTK by BlueBotics. 🌟 𝗧𝗼𝘆𝗼𝘁𝗮 𝗠𝗛 𝘅 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁𝘀🌟 Yesterday evening, I had the pleasure of spending time with Toyota Material Handling, one of our newest clients at Moving Robots. We began working together just two months ago, and I can't help but marvel at how life comes full circle. When I started my career in 2013 at what was then ASTI (now part of ABB Robotics), the forklift AGVs we sold were based on manual machines from 𝗧𝗼𝘆𝗼𝘁𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴. Who would have thought that 11 years later, I would have founded my own company, Moving Robots, which now supports Toyota Material Handling in mobile robotics? I think we are all aware of the expression, 'You never know what tomorrow may bring'. Crystal clear in this case. ✨ Thank you Víctor Domínguez, Javier Delgado and Carlos Giménez for the evening. #innovation #technology #robots

🌟 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀: 𝗔𝗚𝗩𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗠𝗥𝘀? 🔧 W𝗵𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰-𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗚𝗩𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱? Despite the advancements and differences between AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) and AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots), magnetic-guided AGVs remain popular in some applications for several compelling reasons. Much has been discussed about the differences between AGVs and AMRs – with points like AMRs not being guided and having obstacle avoidance, while AGVs are often seen as more robust. In any case, many magnetic-guided mobile robots are still being installed, like the ABB Robotics AGV featured in the attached video. So, why use these types of mobile robots instead of others? Here are the key reasons: 1️⃣ 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 The AGV in the video is incredibly easy to program. Changing its route is as simple as modifying the magnetic tape on the floor. This makes it highly adaptable to new layouts or changes in the production environment without requiring complex reprogramming or significant downtime. 2️⃣ 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 Magnetic-guided AGVs are highly reliable in diverse environments. Since their guidance is based on the magnetic tape on the ground, these mobile robots are not affected by changing surroundings, such as shifting inventory or temporary obstructions. This ensures consistent and predictable performance, which is crucial for maintaining efficiency in logistics operations, particularly in automotive industry. 3️⃣ 𝗡𝗼 W𝗶𝗙𝗶 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 These AGVs do not rely on WiFi communications, eliminating connectivity issues related to network interference, signal dropouts, or cybersecurity concerns. This independence from WiFi ensures that the AGVs can operate smoothly and reliably without the need for robust IT infrastructure. 🤔 W𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰-𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗚𝗩𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀? Share your thoughts below! 🔄💭 ✨ The AGV in the video has been installed by IATECC and it has been manufactured by ABB Robotics. It is equipped with an ifm PLC controller.
