To see if job responsibilities and requirements align with the fast-changing, tech-driven demands of modern marketing leadership. The findings are clear: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐌𝐎 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐝, yet most job postings fail to reflect this shift from traditional communication to digital transformation. This disconnect results in vague requirements, missing critical skills, and mismatched expectations between companies and candidates. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: ▪ Job requirements are often too vague and incomplete. ▪ Critical soft and hard skills, like cross-functional collaboration, are under-emphasized. ▪ There's a lack of focus on strategic thinking and innovation. ▪ Industry experience is prioritized over marketing expertise leading the very small recruitment pools. These issues lead to quick CMO replacements, costing companies in recruitment and lost momentum. But this isn't just a CMO problem - these learnings are transferable to other C-level roles.
