Announcing: IQM to deliver Czech Republic’s first quantum computer with unique star topology!  We are excited to announce that we have won a contract to deliver the Czech Republic’s first quantum computer to be installed at the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center in Ostrava. Key highlights: ◾ The contract is part of the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU). ◾ We will deliver a “Radiance Star 24-qubit" full-stack quantum computer. ◾ This will be the first quantum computer in an HPC centre that will run on our unique Star Architecture, where 24 qubits are connected to a central resonator. ◾ The system will be connected to the EuroHPC petascale supercomputer Karolina    “Winning the first quantum computer delivery in the Czech Republic is a significant milestone for IQM and the entire Central European quantum community. We are extremely excited as this is the first customer system based on our next generation star topology QPU, which is set to shortcut the path to quantum error correction. Our new paper shows faster quantum logic gates with a lower error! In our work, we demonstrate new control methods to improve the accuracy and speed of single-qubit logic gates in superconducting quantum computers. Key highlights: ◾ We propose and experimentally demonstrate new control pulse shapes, FAST DRAG and HD DRAG, to reduce leakage errors of fast single-qubit gates. ◾ FAST DRAG pulses outperform conventional cosine DRAG pulses both in terms of lowest gate error and speed: 1.6×10^-4 error at a gate duration of 7.9 ns for FAST DRAG vs 1.8×10^-4 error at 10.8 ns for cosine DRAG. ◾ The proposed pulse shapes enable a low leakage error below 3×10^-5 down to a gate duration of 6.2 ns, which is an order of magnitude improvement over the previous record for comparably fast transmon-based gates. ◾ The control pulses allow efficient calibration without closed-loop optimisation, require no hardware modifications, and reduce the peak power of fast gates. ◾ We present new methods to characterise and mitigate distortions of microwave control pulses. Announcing our production milestone of 30 quantum computers! At our manufacturing facility in Espoo, Finland, we have produced 30 full-stack quantum computers, marking a significant milestone. With the capacity of producing up to 20 quantum computers per year, the facility consists of Europe's only private quantum chip factory and a state-of-the-art assembly line for complete systems. So far, IQM has delivered six on-premises quantum computers to customers worldwide. Highlighting the significance of the manufacturing milestone, our Co-CEO, Dr. Mikko Välimäki, said: “One of the key bottlenecks in quantum computer adoption has been prohibitively high prices. We are the first quantum computer manufacturer with the goal of taking quantum computers to a much wider market with industrialised manufacturing capabilities that help drive the prices lower.
