🌍 Prematurity Awareness Month: A Global Call to Action for Preterm Births 🌍 November marks #PrematurityAwarenessMonth—a reminder of the pressing need to address the global crisis of preterm birth. Each year, 13.4 million babies are born too soon, with nearly 1 million of them tragically lost due to complications. Preterm birth is the leading cause of death for children under 5, highlighting urgent areas for action. The World Health Organization and UNICEF’s latest “Born Too Soon” report provides a clear call to action: 1️⃣ Improve Quality of Care: Investing in healthcare infrastructure and training ensures that #newborns receive the care they need, especially in underserved regions. 2️⃣ Tackle #Inequities: 65% of preterm births occur in low-resource settings, notably South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Addressing healthcare inequities is essential to improve outcomes for all. 3️⃣ Enhance Data Collection: Better data can guide targeted interventions and support policies to reduce preterm birth rates. 4️⃣ Collaborate and Invest: Governments, organizations, and the private sector must come together to support innovations in maternal and neonatal health. 5️⃣ Drive Policy Reforms: Policies that address maternal health and environmental factors, like pollution, can help mitigate risks associated with preterm birth. Let’s work together to create a world where every baby has a healthy start in life! 🌟 #PrematurityAwareness #BornTooSoon #GlobalHealth #MaternalHealth #PretermBirth
