Industrial Cooling through Hybrid System based on Solar Heat

The Hycool Project proposes a major technological breakthrough: the coupling of a new Fresnel CSP solarthermal collector with specially build Hybrid Heat Pumps. Funded by the EU's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme in May 2018, this project has taken off with a very clear objective: to showcase new solar heating and cooling technologies for industrial use through two demonstration plants, a food industry case and a chemical case. As our main mission is increasing the current use of Solar Heat in Industry Processes, the coupling of new Fresnel CSP Solar thermal collectors (FCSP) system with specially build Hybrid Heat Pumps (HHP) – a “two-in one” combination of adsorption and compressor based heat pumps – will provide a wider output temperature range (Solar Heating & Cooling –SHC-), and a wide range of design and operational configurations to increase the potential implementation of the proposed Solar Heat in industrial environments.
