First Q Network

We are thrilled to announce that First Q has completed the Around the World Tour Challenge with a record-breaking achievement! During the month of June, 704 participants from 15 First Q members across Europe walked and ran to collectively cover the distance around the Earth – 40,075km. Thanks to the incredible efforts of all participants, we exceeded our goal, achieving a total of 61,454 km, which is a remarkable one and a half laps around the planet! First Q will donate 1€ for every 10 km to a charity organization chosen by the winning team, Goblet Lavandier & Associés S.A. from Luxembourg. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this event a massive success! 

Today we are delighted to share with you the white paper developed by our Danish member, Søren Jensen, in collaboration with Soletair Power from Finland on Building Integrated Carbon Capture. The paper explores the concept of regenerative buildings and discusses a specific case study of a Building Integrated Carbon Capture (BICC) technology installation in a building located in Denmark. It provides an overview of BICC technology and its integration process within the building. It showcases the project's targeted performance, highlighting the captured carbon dioxide tonnage and its utilization potential.   Furthermore, the paper delves into the various benefits of BICC technology for achieving regenerative building goals. The concluding remarks discuss the future trajectory of BICC technology and its role in advancing regenerative design principles. Today, we are thrilled to share our final project in our Wow Festival video series from our colleagues in JG Ingenieros S.A.who showcased thier project - BSL4 laboratories in the world! With only 51 laboratories of this calibre worldwide, with 8 located in Europe its amazing that Spain is the host country for this 9th one. The new facility features state-of-the-art HVAC and containment measures, ensuring a secure environment for the study and research of highly contagious viruses such as COVID-19 and Ebola. For this week’s WOW Festival video series we are delighted to share our dutch member Smits van Burgst WOW Festival Video of a project in Hoofddorp / The Netherlands They've assisted Delta Development, VolkerWessels Logistics Development and Systabo B.V. in obtaining a series of BREEAM-NL Excellent sustainability certificates for the buildings ABC Square and HelloWorld. As part of one of the most sustainable area developments in Europe, ABC Square was the first building on the Schiphol Trade Park and, together with its sister building HelloWorld, they are iconic for the area and trendsetters in sustainability. The buildings are equipped with heat pump systems and LED-lighting in both the offices and the industrial areas. Due to the low energy consumption of the buildings, in combination with the large number of solar panels, a net positive energy performance has been achieved. Exciting news! We're thrilled to unveil the 9th project in our FQ Wow Festival video series, brought to you by our Partner Goblet Lavandier & Associés S.A. Introducing "Rout Lens" in South Luxembourg, featuring 30 passive buildings spanning 163,000m². This innovative development includes a school, student residences, restaurants, grocery shops, parking, retail stores, a cultural centre, music conservatory, cycle track, climbing gym, and a train station, all designed to accommodate approximately 4,500 residents. "Rout Lens" will be developed in three phases, set to be completed by 2035. The project's heating demand of 5700 kW and cooling demand of 1500 kW will be met sustainably. A glycol water network connected to 300 geothermal boreholes (each 200 meters deep) will serve as the primary energy source, using decentralised heat pumps in buildings. Dry coolers atop the tallest structures will support borehole regeneration, ensuring optimal performance. This forward-thinking development aligns with Luxembourg's highest energy standards (AAA) for new constructions. Today, we introduce CityWave, the latest gem in the Citylife urban regeneration project which is our eighth project in our First Q Network video series from our Italian member, Manens S.p.A. SPA With a focus on biophilic design and holistic well-being, CityWave, is the first WiredScore Platinum certified, LEED certified in Italy. Harnessing the power of a groundwater district network, CityWave utilises Groundwater Heat Pump systems for efficient heating and cooling, while also repurposing nuisance groundwater for non-potable uses. Achieving an impressive energy performance of 79kWh/m2, CityWave stands 45% lower than reference buildings. How? Through innovative features like high-performing triple glazing, LED lighting with daylight dimming, and a 1.3MWp PV system on its curved roof, providing 16% of the building's energy needs. With dynamic solar shading and abundant daylighting (average sDA of 54%), well done to everyone in Manes  and ensuring that CityWave sets a new standard for sustainable, energy-efficient urban architecture! #CityWave #firstq #manens
