This week, Irene Mendez from Entzimatiko, spoke at the AMI Chemical Recycling Conference in Brussels. During her presentation, we showcased exciting results on enzymatic depolymerization of different polymers, from PET to technical polymers, with a disruptive technology that leverages on an proprietary enzymatic mix, working in tandem, without the need of a solvent based pretreatment. Fungi have great potential in plastic recycling, as some species can degrade plastic compounds, converting them into simpler monomers or biomolecules. We are excited to share that Carina Santos Hurtado, PhD, has joined the Entzimatiko team. Carina has experience in organic synthesis and is responsible for planning and conducting experiments optimizing enzymatic kinetics for both plastics and textiles. Carina holds a Doctoral degree in Organic Chemistry and has conducted extensive research in molecular devices.

And that’s a wrap! This week saw the debut of our Bioplastics conference, welcoming over 90 attendees. The event was a great success, sparking lively discussions on the latest bioplastic technologies and applications in North America. A big thank you to everyone that took part! A great two day event here at the #AMI Plastics Recycling world Expo with #Entzimatiko showcasing our bio based enzymatic depolymerization process.

We are excited to share that Pedro Enrique Plaza Lázaro PhD has joined the Entzimatiko team. With a PhD in Industrial Engineering, and experience working on deep-tech biological processes and integrated separation processes, Pedro brings a wealth of knowledge in the fields of biofuels from lignocellulosic biomass. Together with the Entzimatiko team and jointly with GSF Upcycling, we will continue to expand our capabilities in the fields of biomass to bio-fuels, targeting Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) with our proprietary processes enabling a bio-based pretreatment of biomass and an upgrading of py-oils.

Thanks Silke Einschuetz for your presentation with powerful data, a much needed “reality check”, with an engaged audience, proving that all attendees where highly motivated, both during the presentations, and also throughout networking conversations. We are thrilled to be playing our part in helping to solve such a massive environmental problem, and truly believe it is a collaboration game. Thanks again to Silke and AMI team.
