⛑ The European Parliament got to work last week and so did ECHO, reaching out to MEPs calling on them to address the unique health needs of children and adolescents in the upcoming MFF negotiations. Children are not small adults; they have unique needs that have been underrepresented in the Framework Programmes. To date, only two calls have specifically targeted children under Horizon Europe in Cluster 1 (Health). Read our letter sent to heads of political parties from ECHO member countries calling for strategic allocations towards research, innovation, and policy development in four pivotal domains: ✔ Early interventions to meet the needs of children and adolescents ✔ Orphan medicinal products for rare diseases ✔ Research funding to advance child health outcomes ✔ Pediatic clinical trials We look forward to working with members as committee assignments are made to ensure future funding and legislation address the health challenges face by children and young people in Europe. ECHO issues a joint statement strongly condemning the missile strikes on Ohmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv, Ukraine. We call for the international community to take decisive action to protect healthcare facilities, civilians and children in all conflict zones. On Monday, July 8th, Russian missiles hit ECHO member Ohmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv, Ukraine. This is the largest children's hospital in Ukraine and provides care to critically ill children and young people from across the country. ECHO condemns all violence against children and healthcare professionals. Children’s hospitals should be sanctuaries where children, young people and their families can seek and receive care without fear of violence or threat. Patient Partnership Webinar – The Patient Experience: partnering to improve hospital services 🗓️ 27 June 2024 ⏰ 1PM – 2PM CET ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dR4RzByu This session features Joan Vinyets i Rejón, Head of Patient Experience at ECHO member Barcelona Children's Hospital Sant Joan de Déu and co-chair of the ECHO Patient Experience Working Group. The session will illustrate how patient partnership can be organised to improve healthcare services in hospitals that host ERNs’ Expert Centres. In addition to Joan, Jordi Antón, Head of the Paediatric Rheumatology Deparment, at Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona Children’s Hospital will also present. They will present their Patient Experience programme and showcase how collaboration with patients has contributed to enhance the quality of hospital services. Drawing on concrete examples, they will explain how clinicians, patients, and hospital managers are working to improve patients’ experience with healthcare. Participants attending the webinar will be able to identify collaborative practices with potential for transferability into other HCPs.
