🔬 Exciting Collaboration Alert! 🌟 We’re thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership between DevsHealth and the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP). Together, we’re embarking on a mission to develop new antibiotics aimed at combating hospital-acquired infections caused by multi-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. 🧫 Staphylococcus aureus is notorious for causing severe infections and is recognized by the WHO as a high-priority pathogen due to its resistance to existing antibiotics. This collaboration is not just a step forward in medical science; it’s a leap towards safeguarding public health. 💡 By leveraging DevsHealth’s innovative DeepTech platform and IGTP’s extensive bacterial collection, we aim to discover drugs that can outsmart resistance mechanisms. Our combined expertise signifies hope for effective treatments against these formidable infections. 🤝 This partnership aligns perfectly with our vision to industrialize drug development and create the largest pipeline for infectious diseases. It’s a fusion of technology and science where AI meets years of research to fast-track the discovery of life-saving drugs. Stay tuned as we embark on this exciting journey. Together, we can make a difference! #DevsHealth #IGTP #Innovation #Healthcare #Antibiotics #Collaboration #PublicHealth #AMR https://lnkd.in/dBCj_wCK

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a critical Health Alert Network (HAN) Advisory1 to inform the public about a heightened risk of dengue virus infections within the United States. As we approach the warmer months, it’s crucial for healthcare providers, public health authorities, and individuals to be vigilant and prepared. The advisory emphasizes the importance of preventive measures to mitigate the spread of dengue. This includes the use of mosquito repellents, wearing long-sleeved clothing, and eliminating standing water where mosquitoes breed. Public health officials are urged to monitor and report cases promptly. The CDC’s proactive approach aims to ensure the safety and well-being of communities across the nation. #Dengue #NeglectedDiseases #DrugDiscovery https://lnkd.in/gNN4EyYj

The latest report from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) paints a concerning picture of the escalating spread of mosquito-borne diseases within the EU/EEA. The increase in cases of dengue, Zika, and West Nile virus is a public health concern that highlights the need for vigilance and proactive measures. These diseases, often associated with symptoms ranging from mild fever to severe neurological effects, have far-reaching impacts that extend beyond individual health, potentially affecting community well-being and economic stability. The situation calls for a concerted effort to enhance surveillance, improve vector control, and promote public awareness to prevent outbreaks. It also emphasizes the importance of research and development in the field of infectious diseases to better understand the dynamics of transmission and to develop effective prevention and treatment strategies. As we face these challenges, the role of international cooperation becomes ever more critical, ensuring that knowledge and resources are shared to safeguard public health across borders. #InfectiousDiseases #favivirus #mosquito #publichealth https://lnkd.in/d53iTDBt

Mpox is still here, it is not an emergency but it is important to be aware of it. In a recent study led by UCLA, mpox cases have significantly decreased since the 2022 outbreak. However, the data, published by the CDC, indicates that men who have sex with men are still reporting cases. The study involved 196 participants, with no cases reported among women and children. Only three cases were identified, all in men who had multiple male partners in the previous month and were unvaccinated against mpox. Health professionals are advised to remain vigilant, especially with the emergence of a more transmissible and severe mpox clade known as clade 1 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Despite the low incidence, experts warn against complacency due to low vaccination rates (23% fully vaccinated) and limited awareness of mpox symptoms and transmission methods. It's crucial to monitor for mpox cases, particularly among those at risk. #mpox #antiviral #viralinfections https://lnkd.in/e3MEWc-c

Nature is awesome! Several viruses possess reverse transcriptases that enable them to convert RNA into DNA upon infecting bacteria. However, a novel discovery has revealed that bacteria have their own version of reverse transcriptase. This bacterial enzyme uses RNA as a template to create entirely new DNA genes. These newly minted genes are subsequently transcribed back into RNA and translated into defensive proteins when the bacterium faces viral infection. In contrast, viral reverse transcriptases do not generate new genes; instead, they simply transcribe the information from RNA to DNA. #bacteria #AMR #virus #infections #molecularbiology
