💡 During our work with citizens, we found out that many people find confusing adaptation and mitigation actions. So, we are excited to launch a new infography that clarifies the difference between these two concepts. #Mitigation measures aim to #reduce or #prevent the #emission of #greenhouse gases (GHGs) related to human activities (such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation, energy production and use, etc.) to slowdown or halt climate change. #Adaptation measures aim to #reduce #vulnerability to climate change impacts by preparing for and adjusting to the current and expected impacts (such as extreme heat or rain), enhancing resilience. Can dune restoration combat coastal erosion? 🌊🌿 Wind, water, and human activity have all left several European coasts vulnerable to flooding and extreme tides, endangering both human and marine life. By using nature-based solutions like sand traps coupled with drone monitoring, IMPETUS partners in Catalonia have successfully restored dunes and protected beaches from erosion and storms. We are excited to announce that yesterday we hosted the 2nd Stakeholders Workshop for the Attica Region in the framework of the Climate Impetus project, in which we presented the Dynamic Adaptation Pathways approach for Attica, a decision making methodology for planning and implementing long-term sustainable solutions to address water scarcity in the Region. It was a successful, highly participatory workshop with a variety of stakeholders contributing to a series of live structured questions focusing on water scarcity matters of the region, while at the same time commenting on the various answers and results of interactive exercises. The discussions were around the factors affecting water scarcity in Attica, currently and at a 20-30 years estimate, vulnerability indicators, as well as the impact of climate change in the agricultural sector, the ecosystems, the economy and society. We also asked from the participants to assess the usability and benefits of such approaches in enhancing the interest and promoting collaboration of various stakeholders towards common climate change adaptation strategies. Finally, the particular interventions and practices were discussed and evaluated in terms of technical and social readiness, feasibility, risks as well as scalability and transferability. Many thanks to our colleagues and the representatives from the Attica Region, the Water Directorate of the Decentralized Administration of Attica, EYDAP, Green Fund, City of Athens, University of Western Attica, Municipality of Markopoulo, Athens University of Economics and Business and Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania.

Our partners B.I.M Sarca-Mincio-Garda in the Valle dei Laghi, Italy are excited to announce a special series of three open-air #filmscreenings focusing on #water as an essential and precious resource in the context of #climatechange. 🎬 "Notizie sull’acqua" is developed in collaboration with the COMUNITA' DELLA VALLE DEI LAGHI, and is part of a larger summer entertainment event organized by Associazione Arte Laghi in partnership with Coordinamento Teatrale Trentino. This synergy enables us to convey the message of the Climate Impetus project to a broader audience, increasing awareness about the importance of #watermanagement in our changing climate. The screenings are hosted by Cinéma du Désert, which offers a "#zeroimpact" cinema powered by a photovoltaic system. The breathtaking beauty of Tromso in northern Norway, with its stunning mountains and northern lights, makes it a popular tourist destination. However, due to #climatechange, the region is becoming increasingly prone to avalanches. Climate Impetus partners at the UiT- The Arctic University of Norway have been conducting important research to better navigate snow avalanche risks.
