We are thrilled to announce that we have been shortlisted for the Society of Façade Engineering (SFE) Awards 2024 in the category of Special Structures International. This extraordinary structure features a complex steel dome with bespoke high-performance glass panels, designed to maximize natural light while ensuring energy efficiency. The installation was particularly challenging due to the dome’s height and access restrictions, requiring professional climbers specifically trained to install the glass. The project involved a dedicated team of 40 Bellapart experts, taking 23 months from initial design to on-site completion. We are extremely proud to have contributed to the award-winning project Le Visionnaire - Espace François Dalle, which has been double honoured with the Best feat of Engineering and Project of the Year at the Glass Magazine Awards 2024. This distinctive architectural creation, now a prominent feature of L’Oréal’s headquarters in Paris, exemplifies innovation and precision in glass engineering. Our team was responsible for the design and construction of the lamella-type glass façade and dome, which seamlessly integrates with the historic building. The 25-metre-high curved ovoid-shaped glass roof composed of 188 meticulously engineered glass panels and 288 steel nodes, represents a pinnacle of cutting-edge design and craftsmanship. The true success of the project can be measured in the realisation of this ambitious vision. The flawless reflection continuity across this complex structure gives the impression of a single, uninterrupted glass surface. This project was not only about pioneering the use of curved and spherical glass technology in France, but also about redefining what is possible in architectural aesthetics. We recently had the honour of presenting the remarkable L'Oréal, 14 Rue Royale, Paris project in collaboration with Moatti-Rivière and RFR Structure et Enveloppe at Zak World of Façades Paris. At the event, Fabio Bezzecchi from Moatti & Rivière presented the visionary concept of this masterpiece, @Charles Dufresne from RFR explained the structural engineering and Sara Arbós, Ph.D, MBA, our CEO, spoke about the verification of the structural geometry and the seamless precision throughout the process, from calculations to manufacturing and installation. We also shared insights into the prototyping and testing process and the challenges we overcame during installation, including the use of skilled climbers to install the apex glass panels.
