Build trust, understand the client stakeholders' challenges, requirements, their processes and align with their goals to deliver the quality product /service that derives measurable value.

I always start with a "Day In The Life" (contract or direct role). As allowed by the organization (IP, union restrictions, regulations, access control, etc.) I will meet with at least one representative of each stakeholder group. The "meeting" is simply me spending as much time with them as allowed (given my other responsibilities and the restrictions mentioned above). While I am spending time with them I try to observe them in action. I am remain quiet and out of the way unless they address me directly. On breaks, I ask questions about what I saw. I learn their process, their issues, and so on. Sometimes it is more than a day in their life but it is always effective at getting to know them, their work, their issues, and build trust.
-
As I have observed while working alongside some great colleagues, a temporary and contract program manager builds trust by consistently demonstrating reliability and consistency in his or her work. Communicate openly, deliver on promises, and showcase your expertise through effective problem-solving and successful project delivery. Be transparent about challenges and collaborate closely with stakeholders. Earn respect by leading with integrity and providing valuable insights that contribute to the project’s success, thereby establishing a reputation for excellence and trustworthiness.
-
Demonstrate your expertise and value in temporary or contract roles by delivering exceptional results consistently. Clearly articulate your achievements and impact in previous projects. Build strong relationships with your team and stakeholders through effective communication and collaboration. Stay adaptable and proactive in addressing challenges. Highlight your unique skills and how they align with the organization's needs. Being reliable and results-driven will solidify your reputation as an invaluable asset. 🚀 #ContractWork #ProfessionalExcellence #ProgramManagement

Communication skills are key when starting a new program, active listening and repeating what you heard the customer say helps ensure you are communicating effectively with the customer. I tend to listen take notes, repeat what I heard at a high level and get the acknowledgement from the customer. The communication skill in three steps, message sent, message acknowledged, message verified. This eliminates any confusion between you and the sponsor.

Contract Program Managers bring expertise in strategic planning and execution. Excelling in navigating complex projects, they ensure timely delivery while maintaining the highest quality standards. Their ability to foster cross-functional collaboration and their strong communication skills enable them to drive team performance and deliver exceptional results. They are adept at risk management and resource allocation, ensuring projects stay on track and within budget. Their focus is always on showcasing skills and adding value to the organization.
-
Showcasing is not one of my strong points. I am of the "work speaks for itself" crowd. By the way, after decades of experience the work does NOT speak for itself. What I do now is simply show, through repetition and presentation, how the objectives are being addressed. I highlight the team, the process, and convey my confidence and experience by getting things done (and then showing they are done). Another element of the showcasing skills is shown with how you address issues and risks. Transparency, clarity, immediacy, and completeness in communication always conveys confidence. When others have confidence in you, they trust you more. When they trust you more, you can easily showcase your skills and introduce new ones as needed.
-
As a temporary and contract program manager, you can showcase your value and expertise by highlighting your adaptability and impact in previous roles. Emphasize your ability to quickly integrate into diverse teams, align with organizational goals, and drive projects to completion. Showcase specific skills such as risk management, stakeholder communication, and resource optimization through concrete examples and quantifiable achievements. This approach not only demonstrates your proficiency in program management but also your readiness to deliver immediate value in a dynamic, project-based environment.

As a highly sought-after contract Program Manager, you excel in delivering results. Your strategic planning and execution skills ensure project success. Your adept resource allocation and collaboration drive teams to exceed expectations. Your focus on quality and efficiency showcases your value.
-
It only starts with delivering results. You must show the results and tie them to what you did. Although I hate this interview format STAR works well with showing results. You must show you understood the Situation, developed a plan (series of Tasks), Acted on the plan, managed risks and issues, delivered Results. Being in the "work speaks for itself" crowd after decades in the PgmM role, I have found that it does not. You must SHOW people in a clear, direct, transparent, and complete fashion the HOW behind the WHAT. To me, it does not end with delivering results you must show how.
