- (usually in the singular) green, greenness (the quality of that which is green)
- lapu zaļums ― the greenness of leaves
- košs zaļums ― bright green(ness), greens
- pavasara zaļums ― spring green(ness), greens
- mežu tumšais zaļums ― the dark green of the forest
- gaišs zaļums sedz kalnus un gravas ― light green (= vegetation) covered mountains and ravines
- (usually in the plural) plants, the green parts of plants (leaves, branches, etc.)
- zaļumu vītnes ― garland, wreath of greens (leaves, twigs, flowers, etc.)
