[edit]From Proto-Finnic *rindek, probably from rinta -e,[1] or alternatively possibly borrowed from Proto-Germanic [Term?] (whence Norwegian strind (“strip, half, row, edge”) or rind (“esker, stripe in cloth”)).[2]
